What Drives You to Succeed in Your Home Based Business
It doesn't matter how long you have had a home based business or whether you are working it part time or full time. What does matter is that you are successful. Success is relative. Some people would be happy with an extra $500 per month, others $5000 and still others $50,000. You should have a clear definition of success for yourself. Your home based business is the vehicle through which you can achieve your goals.
The most improtant thing for you to succeed is not what you think. It isn't a tool or a killer product or fantastic website or sales copy. It is to know WHY you are doing what you are doing. You have read it and heard it before. What is your WHY? What is that specific reason you are working your business at home. If you don't know it, find it...fast! Without knowing or defining your specific reason, your WHY, it will be that much easier for you to quit. Don't be so unoriginal as to say "it's money", everyone starts off with that one. It's easy to fall back on, and it doesn't take much work to come up with it. Money is NEVER the real deep down reason.
Money will give you something you want or need. think about the following: if you had an extra $2000 a month what would you do with it?....and after you paid off the bills, what would you do? If you had an extra 20 hours a week what would you do with that time? If you didn't have to go to your J O B everyday, what would your days be like? this excercise will help you define your specific WHY.
This is vital because your WHY is the reason you will stay focused and succeed in your home based business, while others quit. Make a decision that your WHY is more important than any obstacle you will encounter. If you focus on that and make an effort everyday to move forward, you will succeed.

10 Things You MUST Do to Succeed In Your Home Based Business
Many people dream about working at home in their own home based business. Let's face it, it is a dream come true. To be your own boss, work your own hours and be the master of your own destiny. There are many home based business opportunities available online, including affiliate programs, network marketing and direct sales. All allow you to work at home. As many of us realized early on in our home business careers, there are some ground rules you must follow in order to be successful with your home based business.
1. Be consistent: If you are running an email campaign and you are dedicated to submit to safelists everyday, then do it everyday- not once a week. You must be consistent if you want to be taken seriously.
2. Treat your business like a business - not a hobby: I have seen so many people fail in their business because they don't treat it like a business, they treat it like a hobby. How much does a hobby pay? NOTHING, ZERO, ZILCH - nuff saiid.
3. Make a schedule and stick to it: what would happen if you went to work whenever you wanted to? You just showed up when you felt like working? How long would you have a job?
4. Advertise: Yes, advertise. It is amazing to me that people get into a home based internet business and are shocked when they find out they need to put money into advertising. How are people going to know about your business if you don't let them know.
5. KEEP POSITIVE: There will be challenges. Are you suprised? You shouldn't be, you are going through challenges everyday in your personal life. They may be big or small. It is how you react to them that will determine your success. Do not let negativity steal your dreams. Get around positive people, this helps me everyday.
6. Keep Learning: You should make a point to read at least 1 book a week. I don't mean the lastest Grisham novel, I am talking about books that will drive your business and personal development to the next level. Books on personal development, marketing, sales, et.al.
7. Budget your expenses: You need to know how much you have to promote your business with and how much money it will take monthly to achieve the success you want. Know what you can afford and stick to it. In the begining the money will be slow to come in, realize that and plan ahead.
8. Write down your goals: It has been said many times - 'if you fail to plan, you plan to fail' - there is a reason you hear that all the time. It's true. How can you draw a map if you don't know where you are going?
9. Stay focused: Do not lose sight of your goals. You must focus on your business everyday. Do not let little things get in the way. You will not be successful if you are chasing the latest and greatest opportunity. Do not become distracted, maintain that solo focus you need to succeed.
10. Work space: You must have a space that you can call your own while you are working. Lock the door, don't let the kids in. This is your time and you need it for your business. You need to spend this time without interuption. Having four children of my own - this was a tough one.

Autoresponders: Do you really need them?
An Autoresponder will send emails automatically to your prospects/customers so you do not have to do it manually.
When one enters the online arena you are bombarded with so many offers from biz opps to squeeze pages to autoresponders, to a million other things you may or may not need. They all sound great on the page that's selling them, of course. But, do we really need all those things?
That all depends on how you want to make money online. For the sake of being as brief as possible I am going to speak about autoresponders. There is a reason for my subject today and I will get to it later. An online business opportunity comes with 2 requirements. 1. You have to be able to get online. 2. You have to communicate online with your prospects/customers - mainly through email. Email is a great tool, your prospect/customer can be reached at any hour of the day. They can be reading your email at 3 am while you are asleep.
Best of all - email is free, well for the time being. I am sure once the Governments find a way to charge for each email you send, they will do it. For now it's free. If you want to make money online and delve into the world of an online business you must be able to meet those 2 requirements.
This takes us back to the original question. Do you really need an autoresponder to make money online? You may ask, as I did, "why can't I use my Yahoo email?" The fact is you can, but not if you want to send to more than 25 people an hour. The reason for this is that email providers are terrified of spam accusations and the federal regulations that govern them. They have protections built in for that - and that is why they limit what you send.
Imagine you go through the trouble of using Yahoo, or msn or hotmail to do your mailing. The first thing you notice is that it is not automated, you must do everything by hand. But, you work through it and build a list of over 500 contacts - you are really happy. You are good about it too, and remove everyone that asks. One day you log in, or try to, and it keeps telling you - the username or password is incorrect. You soon find out that your account has been deactivated or closed. No warning, no second chance and no appeal. Good-bye email and most improtant - good-bye contact list.
"What - they can't do that!" - They can and they did - to me! So, as you can see I speak from experience. Using an autoresponder will save you time and money. If you want to make money online and turn it into a good living you need one. No if's and's or but's. It is one of your tools. It will take a little bit of time to set up, but it will be well worth it to have your email follow up system fully automated- saving you several hours a week.
There are a lot of autoresponders out there the cost is pretty cheap compared to the time savings, usually around $20 a month. I have several that I use, GetResponse , Response Magic and ISO. There are others out there, I think that they are all pretty comparable anddo the same things for you. Go ahead and check some out. Make sure that you get one that is full service, where you can easily create campaigns and add contacts and email messages.
So get going, put your sales on autopilot and enjoy your life!

Better to Give Than Receive
This is the ongoing theme in my life as it rounds 40. I did not always believe that to be so. It is no coincidence that a home based business especially one that is involved with network marketing and making money online needs to be well aware of this principle. Value is king online. You must provide value to everyone you come in contact with. Whether it is through your products or even with your words. everyone is looking for the same thing in life and that is success. Personal success is what I am talking about.
People need to feel good about themselves and that is a driving force in their lives. It is no wonder that diet products are a multi billion dollar a year industry as is self help books and also work out programs. they all have one thing in common, to get people feeling better about themselves. You have a great deal to do with how someone is feeling today. A very successful person once told me that the secret to his success is that he always treated everyone as if they were the most improtant person. He gave them his undivided attention in conversation. He certainly knew how to give.
Do you give everyone your undivided attention? Do you notice everyone in your office building or are you too busy trying to get to your office that you have blinders on. You have opportunities evryday to make a huge difference in people's lives and all it will take is a metter of seconds. Just saying hello is a start - how suprised are you when a complete stranger says hello? Is this how it should be? Do something radical - say hello to 5 strangers today and see if you can make a difference. Remember like to movie says Pay It Forward.
