Don't Buy Another Thing Online!!!!

That's right do not buy another thing online from me or anyone else until you work through what you have on your shelf already...

If your one of those people that buy the latest greatest money making program, business, mlm, affiliate thingy...THEN LISTEN CLEARLY--- You Need To Work On What You Have Already.

If you keep jumping from program to program, course to course, then YOU ARE DOOMED TO FAILURE...and you will forever be calling anything on the internet a scam.

The internet has its fair share of scams- not everything is above board and people are just selling stuff to make money- that is all true. Some businesses will be the hottest thing today and then be gone in a few months or even weeks - remember "Regenesis". With that said- there are a lot of good quality courses and businesses on the internet. Sometimes it is hard to choose which is which.

Over 95% of people fail online or in any business venture because of one reason-

THEY LACK FOCUS AND FOLLOW THROUGH!

If you are not willing to put out 110% for your future - do not even try. Unplug the computer and get a part time job at WalMart- it is steady income and you will never claim you got scammed.

If you are ready to fight for your future and learn what it takes to be successful then you should know what you are in for...

1. Hard Work- yeah that's right- no-one and I mean no-one is going to do it for you!

2. It may take a while- yes that's what I said- there is no overnight success- if you are looking for a get rich quick scheme- buy a lottery ticket!

3. You will need to learn and be willing to follow direction- if you are not willing to learn how to do something how can you possibly be successful at it.

4. Be Focused, I mean laser focused on your goal. There are many ways to make money online and not 1 way is the best- no matter what you are being told.

5. You need to concentrate on 1 thing at a time- do not get side tracked with all 'the grass is greener on the other side of the street' garbage.

So decide what you are going to do and go after it. There are too many people making money online for it not to work- just be consistent and learn the right way...

Do You Have A Fax Machine?

In the age of email, instant text, Twitter, Facebook and Myspace, one may think that the old ways of doing business are over. I mean who actually uses a fax machine anymore? The answer:

Alot of people!

Everyday I run into people who request information by fax or email. It's great by email since all I have to do is scan a document, put it into a PDF and email the attachment. That's great for sending info, but what about receiving it back. In fact most people I speak to from all over the world do not have a scanner, so they cannot scan something and email it to me. They must fax it to me. Now they can alway mail it to me, but if I need it right away I better have a means to get it by fax.

I am not saying go out and buy a fax machine, although it might be a good idea if you are going to do alot of business where you need signatures. There are alternatives to fax machines. Most computers have built in fax software that you can use with a scanner to fax info out. It uses the same line as your phone and if you will be using it occasionally it should suffice for that.

The unfortunate part about that is most of the time, you will have trouble receiving faxes. The answer to that problem is one of the online fax services. I use E-FAX...

EFAX is a great service that allows you, without a fax machine, to receive and even send faxes. I have put a button above so you can actually try it for free! I use it myself and would definitely recommend it if you do not already have a fax machine...

E-FAX is definitely not the only service around it is just the one I use. Search online to find others.

The bottom line, if you are serious about your business you need as many avenues as possible to reach your customers and business partners. Fax is just another way to communicate with them.

Best Way To Improve Cash Flow In This Economy…
without it costing you a dime!

A lot has been made of how to increase your income with a home based business. And this blog has been dedicated to that. What most of us miss is the bottom line of cash flow. Cash flow is king and if you can increase you cash flow that is the best scenario.

Take a look at your expenses, not just for your business, but for your personal expenses as well. The less you spend then the less you will need as far as income. In today’s trying economic times we should all be ‘trimming the fat’. Look hard at your expenses and see where you can trim. Eliminate all unnecessary bills and reduce what you can. This will ultimately increase your cash flow just by reducing expenses.

For example: let’s take a look at Car Insurance. Most people have had the same car insurance for years. This is one area that I was as guilty as the next person. Did you know that insurance costs vary widely between companies? So just because you think you are stuck with that premium no matter who you go with- you are not. It will pay for you to shop around.

It is a simple as putting in your zip code (US residents) and clicking on an offer. I used this service to save almost $600 on my insurance premium!

The best thing is it is completely FREE. Imagine if you can save $600 per year in Auto Insurance. You just increased your cash flow by $50 PER MONTH! That may not seem like a lot, but imagine comparing life insurance, health insurance, cable rates, cell phone sevice, etc.

The list is endless.

It is all about knowing what the best deals you can get on things- it is not all about price either. make sure you are not getting substandard service for the reduction in price.

Now go and redo your budget- make it a project ad see how much you can save by movng some things around. Remember, your business is important and it should be earned not taken for granted.

What Is Really Holding You Back From Earning What You Want?

How long have you been trying to earn a living online? or maybe you just are tryng to earn a few hundred or a few thousand dollars online...

Whatever the case you need to know a few things that are the laws of online success and you cannot be successful without them! (they even work offline)

1. You must have a plan: this is probably the one that few people take seriously. I know that you have heard ths before, but you must heed this advice. Without a viable plan YOU WILL NOT SUCCEED!

2. You must be willing to fail. You will learn more from failure than from success. Ask any successful person you know if they have failed at anything. Every successful person has failed more times than they have succeeded. With every failure there is additional knowledge that you need to be successful. This does not mean you must go looking for failure...

3. You must be willing to learn HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL: This means that you must get all the education you can find on the subject and learn as much as you can. The best education is getting in the trenches and going through trial and error, but if you have someone that has gone before you, make sure you learn what has worked before and this will save you time and money!

4. Follow your plan to the end: The Internet is a mixed blessing, while it is true that it is responsible for creating more millionaires in the last 20 years than anything else, it is also responsible for people losing money. How can that be? People are not following through with their plan's. You may start with a business or opportunity or course that you are really excited about, then after a few weeks it seems harder than you thought and you are not have the instant success you were promised. You see something come across your email that looks utterly fantastic (just like the last one at first) and you decide to abandon you current plan and jump to this new one.

Seems very straight foward right? Have a plan, learn how to do it, don't be afraid to fail, and follow that plan to the end. Yup, pretty simple. If it is so simple, why are most people online failing? It seems that from the people I speak with, and I speak with many people weekly, there seems to be this feeling that there is a shortcut somewhere that no-one is talking about.

Let me clear the air - THERE IS NO SHORTCUT TO SUCCESS!!!!

If you are not willing to do the above 4 things, then don't even try. You will become frustrated, lose money and eventually quit anyway.

Some tips to keep you focused:

1. Check your email twice a day, morning and night. There is nothing in there that is so important that it cannot wait. I don't care what Rachel Long's latest program is! (LOL)

2. Same for voice mail.

3. You must have uninterrupted, focued time to give your business. It is said that answering the phone and engaging in a 5 minute conversation winds up costing you 1 hour. Your thought process is interrupted, it is hard to get refocused, you take a break, etc.

4. Have a specific schedule to work your business. Having an online business definitely gives you the flexibility of your schedule, but that does not mean you can do it on the fly- you must plan time- do not get caught in the trap of saying that "I'll do it when I have the time". We all have busy lives and things come up- you must make the time!

5. Treat your business like you have $100,000 invested in it. Get things done now, not tomorrow, not next week, TODAY! - If your boss told you to do something and wanted it by 5pm today, would you get it done? I am not saying concentrate on your business first- your job is paying the bills for now and needs to have your focus when you are at work. I am just saying give your business the focus when you are on "your business time"

Remember to always give it your best!!!

Are You Making As Much Money As You Want?

I will tell you what I have discovered over the last 4 years online... if you don't have any experience makng money online- you will not make any unless you are willng to learn how! Can you answer YES to the following:

1. You have joined my programs and just can't make them work.

At one time or another, everyone feels like this. Look at all the famus marketers online, from Rachel Long to Mike Filsaime to Russell Brunson and many others. They all struggled initially. No matter what you have been told, it will take you some time to 'get it'. You must first believe that it is possible for you to do it. If you are of the mindset that everything online is a scam - quit looking now- you have already told yourself it is fruitless to continue searching.

There are many tools and good coaching programs to help you earn a living online. Some are free and some cost. There are some great resources located in this blog. You must be willing to do some footwork and search for things on your own. This will be your own business and you need to treat it as such. There are many people online making 6 and 7 figures annually, but they did not start there. In many cases they started right where you are and probably have faile many times before they got it right...

Don't give up...keep moving forward and you too will be among those that have succeeded.

TAX INFORMATION - KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!

Now that you have a home-based business, it’s time to take advantage of the TREMENDOUS tax advantages available to you! Nobody likes tax time, but owning a home-based business can literally save you thousands of dollars a year in taxes by allowing you to turn personal expenses into legitimate, allowable business deductions.

The more tax deductions your business can legitimately take, the lower its taxable profit will be. For example, if you earn $100,000 per year from your job and home-based business, combined, but have $15,000 in allowable business deductions, you would only pay taxes of your net income of $85,000. At 30% tax rate, that could save you $4,500 in federal taxes!

We recommend you talk to your accountant about allowable tax deductions, but here are some tax strategies to keep in mind:

Auto Expenses
You can either keep track of and deduct all your actual business-related expenses, or simply deduct 50.5 cents per mile from Jan. 1, 2008, to June 30, 2008, (up 2 cents from 2007). The rate is 58.5 cents for each mile driven during the rest of 2008. Keep track of mileage & how the vehicle is used.

Education/Training Expenses
Costs of training meetings, training programs and manuals, books, online training subscriptions, etc.Also deduct Legal and Professional Fees, (Fees you pay lawyers, tax professionals or consultants).

Business Entertaining
You may deduct 50% of the cost for entertaining existing or prospective customers, if it is either "directly related" to the business, and business is discussed, or "associated with" the business, and the entertainment takes place immediately before or after a business discussion. (Keep notes of the people involved and the business purpose.)

Travel
When you travel for business, you can deduct many expenses, including the cost of plane fare, costs of operating your car, rental cars, taxis, lodging, meals, shipping business materials, dry cleaning, telephone calls, faxes and tips. It's OK to combine business and pleasure as long as business is the primary purpose of the trip. If you take your family along, you can deduct only your expenses, just as if you had traveled alone.
Interest and carrying charges on credit cards and business loans are fully tax-deductible.

Computers and Software
You can now write off a whole computer system in the year that it was purchased if the total cost is less than $25,000, and if it is used exclusively for business purposes. (IRC Sec. 179) In most instances, software bought for business use must be depreciated over a 36-month period, unless you can demonstrate that it has a useful life of less than one year.

Charitable Contributions are deductible
Rules vary depending on whether you are an LLC, partnership, S corporation, or regular (C) corporation, the corporation can deduct the charitable contributions.

Advertising
All expenses involved in advertising or promoting your business are deductible, i.e. business cards, classified ads, yellow pages, brochures and flyers, etc. Also includes signs for home or car, event signage, extra websites, etc.

Household Expenses
This can be one of your most valuable deductions. To qualify, a percentage of your home must be used "exclusively and on a regular basis" for your business. (It doesn't have to be an entire room.) Hints: Have your address on your business cards and stationery, have a photo of you in your office, holding a newspaper to validate the date, and keep a log of what you're doing in your office.

Often Overlooked Expenses:
Business expenses related to your health & wellness business, like the make up kit, Air source, any team or church donations in your business name. Products you buy to let others sample, or share at social or business events with your business advertised.

If you own your home, you can depreciate a percentage of all acquisition costs of your house and home improvements over a period of 39 years. You can depreciate 100% of expenditures and improvement costs to your office space.

A percent of all household expenses, including property taxes, mortgage interest, homeowner's insurance, utilities, property maintenance, alarm systems, snow removal, grass cutting, etc.

Office furniture and equipment - Have you bought any desks, chairs, computers, files, lamps…Up to $20,000 in business furniture and equipment can be deducted in one year.

Homeowner's insurance, utilities and related expenses based on the percentage of their use in the home office.

Household maintenance - Repairs to your home office are fully deductible. Repairs to the whole house would be deducted on a percentage basis.

Snow removal and lawn maintenance, even a percentage of your landscaping.

Don't Miss These Miscellaneous Deductible Items:
Sales aids, i.e. audio and videotapes, CDs, DVDs, books, etc. related to your business.
Bank service charges - you can avoid these by getting a free checking account. 100 % deductions for hiring children or grand children - pay them up to $4500 per year. (They pay less %)
Business gifts - up to $25 purchased for customer or distributor - even if they're related to you.
Business-related magazines and books
Casual labor and tips
Casualty and theft losses
Coffee and beverage service
Office supplies - paper, toner, clips, tape, staples, etc.
Online computer services related to business - lead generation, IR HomeSites, etc.
Parking and meters
Photocopies - handouts, flyers, training materials, etc.
Postage - stamps or shipping on anything sent to partner or customer or prospect
Stationery - cards - even holiday cards to above
Seminars and trade show fees - monthly team dues, meeting charges or tickets for all events
Taxi, train, shuttle and bus fare
Telephone calls and phone cards when away from the business
We've been told a dog is a security system for your business - therefore deductible

The cost of at least the first order 100 % deductible, also the price of a started kit, whether it's $299 or the $39.95. A lot of people also write off the first time they buy anything because it's a demo. Others write off everything they buy personally because it's a vital part of their business.

NOTE: If there's a possibility you may sell your house, talk to your accountant about the tax ramifications. "Unless 100 % of your home qualifies as a principal residence for at least two of the five years preceding the sale, you'll have to pay capital gains tax on the business portion of your home."

Funded Proposal: What Is It And Why You Need It?

Whether you have had a home business for years or are just starting out, there is one thing that is perfectly obvious. If you run out of money your business is over! You will not recover from a negative balance in your business account. Let's face it you started a business to make money, not go broke. But for over 90% of small business owners going broke trying to fund their business is more the reality. It's time to pay attention right now, because this is something you will not hear very much. Ready? 95% of the people you present your opportunity to will not join you. It does not matter what it is. The greatest product, greatest payplan, greatest company, it does not matter. They just won't join.

Business is a numbers game, period! Walmart knows it, Macy's knows it and so does your neighborhood grocery store. Success comes when you start getting the numbers. If 95% of the people will not join you then 5% will or may. So you need to get to the 100 to get 5. Now these numbers may vary depending on your particular skill level. You know or should know what to do with the 5% you start in your business, but what will you do with the other 95%.

That is where a Funded Proposal is so important. A funded proposal is something of value you offer prospects for purchase before you present your opportunity. This does 2 things, 1. puts money in your pocket 2. qualifies the prospect as serious. I use a few different funded proposals, a couple of examples: Infinity Downline and PPC Classroom , both offer 2 things: 1. Training for the person looking to get ahead in their business AND 2. a way to fund their business.

How happy would you be if no-one joined your business this month? Not very happy I bet, but what if 20 people that told you no to your business, said yes to your funded proposal? That would mean that you would have $500.00 coming in even if no-one joined your business. This will allow you to advertise for more people to show your business to. If you did not have this funded proposal you would be in the negative for the month.

The fact remains that most people will not join you, however you must offer something to those people that can be of value to them, because they are trying to make money as well and they have their own business they are promoting. Helping them is the key- if you do nothing but pitch your business over and over again it will fall on deaf ears and you will go broke.

With money coming in month after month- you are able to continue to advertise and promote your business. That is the key- keep the money coming in so you can build your business.

Are All Online Opportunities SCAMS?

It would be dishonest of anyone to claim that all online biz opps are scams if they ask you for money to start. Are some scams? YES! However, most are not. Do not believe the SCARE tactics of marketers selling their own SCAM FREE opportunities by claiming that 90% of all online opps are scams! They are playing on people's fear by telling them what they want to hear and confirm their 'Suspicions'. Let me give you a few facts:

FACT: 90% of all people starting a business will fail in the first 2 years!

FACT: This is due almost entirely to the under funding of the business AND the lack of knowing how to market it correctly.

Notice I did not say 'online' business, but just business. The numbers are the same for traditional businesses as well. The coffee shop down the street, the salon on the corner, the Pet shop downtown. They are all businesses that have to be run like a business. You would definitely agree with that. Now you need to treat an online business the same way. Another fact for you:

FACT: An online business is FAR LESS costly than a traditional business!

You can actually start an internet business, including a marketing budget, for well under $1000. Compare that to a traditional business where the costs are far higher... This is the reason that people do not take it seriously and will "see how it goes for 2 weeks" and if they dont see any money (even if they are doing nothing) they quit and start looking for the "next big thing". Another fact:

FACT: If you are one of those, I call them "program jumpers", always looking for the next big thing to jump into - 99.9% of the time you will lose money and never get to where you want to go, unless you get VERY VERY lucky!

FACT: No opportunity is for everyone!

That being said, there is only one thing that will gaurantee your success; YOU. No-one will ever care more about your success than you. That is why you need to educate yourself on marketing. Make yourself valuable and never worry about joining the right opportunity or the right program. You can do it!

In the links on the right you will find a link to a scam site that is pretty good and you can check that out.

Most opportunities online are good ones, but may not be right for you. You need to do your due diligence and make sure it is a good fit. Make a check list, and grade them in the following criteria:

1. Cost to start: One thing you do not want to do is over extend yourself. If you can afford just $300.00 to start up, don't look at businesses that cost $1000. know your limits!

2. What are the recurring costs: What are you getting into? What are the monthly requirements? Is there a product purchase required, website costs? What about marketing money? You can use a funded proposal for that- most people do.

3. What is the system they are using?: This is sometimes the key to success for alot of people. Is this a system that appeals to you? Can you make it work and can you see other people being attracted to it? This will probably be a positive for you since it is probably the same system that brought you in to consider this business.

4. What will be your marketing method?: Does the way you want to market mesh with what the leadership teaches. Will there be a conflict? You do not want to keep banging your head against the wall.

5. Do the products hold value to you?: Is this something you see value in and will buy regardless of the business? Are they just products thrown together to make the business legal?

That is of course not everything you will consider. You may find other thing to consider and that is great after all it will be your business.

VEry VEry Important: This will be at least a 90 Day commitment for you. Most businesses have a learning curve and it will take usually at least 30 days to come through that curve. So unless you are willing to make that 90 day commitment- do yourself and your sponsor/partner a favor- DO NOT GET INVOLVED!

There are NO GET RICH QUICK Legitimate business opportunities. Sometimes you can get lucky, but remember, the person that joined a company and went on to make 5 figures their first month- had the skills and leadership ability to earn that amount with ANY company.

WASHINGTON – The Federal Reserve on Wednesday sharply downgraded its projections for the country's economic performance this year, predicting the economy will actually shrink and unemployment will rise higher. Under the new projections, the unemployment rate will rise to between 8.5 and 8.8 percent this year. The old forecasts, issued in mid-November, predicted the jobless rate would rise to between 7.1 and 7.6 percent.

The Fed also believes the economy will contract this year between 0.5 and 1.3 percent. The old forecast said the economy could shrink by 0.2 percent or expand by 1.1 percent.

The last time the economy registered a contraction for a full year was in 1991, by 0.2 percent. If the Fed's new predictions prove correct, it would mark the weakest showing since a 1.9 percent drop in 1982, when the country had suffered through a severe recession.

The bleaker outlook represents the growing toll of the worst housing, credit and financial crises since the 1930s. All of those negative forces have plunged the nation into a recession, now in its second year."

Given the strength of the forces currently weighing on the economy," Fed officials "generally expected that the recovery would be unusually gradual and prolonged," according to documents on the Fed's updated economic outlook.

Against that backdrop, unemployment — now at 7.6 percent, the highest in more than 16 years — will keep climbing and stay elevated for quite some time, the Fed predicted.

Fed officials anticipated that unemployment would remain "substantially" higher than normal at the end of 2011 "even absent further economic shocks."

The Fed forecast calls for the jobless rate to dip to between 8 and 8.3 percent next year, and to between 7.5 and 6.7 percent in 2011. All those projections are worse than the Fed's previous estimates and would put unemployment higher than the normal range around 5 percent.

Employment is usually the last piece of the economy to heal once the country is out of recession and in recovery mode. Businesses are usually reluctant to ramp up hiring until they feel confident that any recovery has staying power.

Under the Fed's new projections, the economy should grow between 2.5 and 3.3 percent next year. Fed officials "generally expected that strains in financial markets would ebb only slowly and hence that the pace of recovery in 2010 would be damped," according to the Fed documents.

Fed officials, however, predicted the economy would pick up speed in 2011, growing by as much as 5 percent, which would be considered robust.

Still, given all the economy's problems, there are risks that the Fed's forecasts could turn out to be too optimistic.

And a few Fed officials — none are identified — feared that it could take five or six years for the economy and employment to get back into a sustainable mode of health.

On the inflation front, the weak economy should mean that companies will keep a lid on price increases this year as they try to lure skittish consumers.

The Fed expects prices to rise between 0.3 and 1 percent this year, down from a projection of between 1.3 and 2 percent in the fall. Prices will pick up slightly in 2010 and 2011 as the economy strengthens.

For now, Fed officials are more worried about falling prices, than rising ones.

The Fed didn't use the word "deflation," which is a dangerous bout of falling prices, but officials noted "some risk of a protracted period of excessively low inflation."

Falling prices sound like a gift at first — at least to consumers. But a widespread and prolonged decline can wreak more havoc on the economy, dragging down Americans' wages, and clobbering already-stricken home and stock prices. Dropping prices already are hurting businesses' profits, forcing them to slice capital investments and lay off workers.

America's last serious case of deflation was during the Great Depression in the 1930s. Japan was gripped with a period of deflation during the 1990s, and it took a decade for that country to overcome those problems.

Free Search Engine Anyone?

Retirement savings wiped out by crisis
The day of retirement reckoning is here for less happy reasons, too. For the second time in eight years, savers have watched in horror as their 401(k)s, 403(b)s and other retirement savings were hit with sharp declines. This time around, the household wealth destruction is even greater because of the nationwide fall in home prices. For instance, from the last quarter of 2006 through the third quarter of 2008, the real value of homes and household holdings of stocks plummeted by $5.6 trillion, according to a recent report by Hoisington Investment Management Co. in Austin, Texas. It predicts that the wealth loss may exceed $10 trillion when the fourth-quarter figures are calculated

Postponing retirement The solution: work longer.
After all, earning a paycheck in your latter years can make a huge difference in retirement living standards. Pocketing even a slim income often allows retirement portfolios to compound over a longer period of time.

Take this calculation by economist Robert Shackleton of the Congressional Budget Office, which posits a married couple is in their early 60s earning $100,000 pretax a year. They'll need nearly $66,000 a year after taxes to replace 80 percetn of their preretirement income. (The 80 percent is a standard rule of thumb when it comes to making this kind of retirement calculation.) If both retire at age 62, they'll receive more than $25,000 in total Social Security benefits and require a portfolio of at least $891,000 to generate the income they need to live the good life through their normal life expectancy. (The calculation comes from a paper written several years ago, so the Social Security numbers will have changed a bit over the years. Yet the basic calculation remains true.)

But if our couple waits until age 66 to retire, their Social Security benefits go up and the time they need to bank money shrinks, so $552,000 in savings will suffice. Retire at age 70? All they require is a portfolio worth some $263,000. And so on.

Nevertheless, ...(this is clear-) that retirement and work will be woven into a new cloth for many Americans. The challenge for all of us — employees and employers — will be making the best of the situation.

How Many Times Do I Need To Say This...

If you take the average income of the 4 people you hang around with the most, you can rest assured that is approximately what your income will be- give or take. If you want to earn $100k a year- you need to associate with people that are earning over $100k annually. the same if you want to earn over $100k a month.

Geaorge Bush said it best - "You are either with us or against us" - that is the same attitude you need to take with your friends. You want to associate with Big Thinkers - the ones that look at the results not the problems along the way. Thomas Edison tried 10000 times to invent the light bulb and he finally got it right on the 10001 st try.

If your friend does not believe you will be successful - get another friend! You need people on your team close to you. Keep others at a distance so they will not destroy your dream. "Keep your eyes on the prize" - that is a great saying. There will always be struggles - that's life, there is no such thing as a smooth ride, there are bumps along the way.

Here is the real key to success: NEVER QUIT! Decide right now that you are going to do wahtever it takes to be successful, to get what it is you want. Whatever it takes means whatever it takes. What Is This About Gifting? Scam, Illegal or Just An Innocent Activity.

Gifting is a noble endeavor and it has been around sine the dawn of time. people have always given gifts and of couse the act of giving or receiving gifts is not illegal. Why Are You Not Successful Yet?

It may seem like a stupid question. Is it really? Are you supposed to have the answer? Is it really all in your own control? What about the company, the payplan, your sponsor? Don't they have some responsibility in all this?

I will put it this way- It is 10% other things (sponsor, company, payplan,etc) and 90% YOU!

Give me an excuse that I have not heard and I will send you $100. really I mean it. What is holding you back from making a decision or moving forward toward your goals? Let's face it, we all want something more in our lives, or else you would not be here reading this. You would not be looking, but the problem is that's all that some people do is look. They never take action, they never complete what they start. people feel great about themselves that they actually took the step of looking, and then they decide "it's just not for me."

What is NOT FOR YOU? - is it the bigger house, newer car, getting yourself out of debt? That is the bottom line after all. What is it that you want? Someone I admire in this business, kind of a mentor to me, told me one day after I had said these words to him- "sounds great and I can really see the potential, but it really isn't for me"- he said: "what's not for you? making more money, wanting more for your family?"

It hit me at that point, what he was really saying to me was- do you really want those things you told me you wanted or are they just on your wish list and you are hoping Santa can bring them on Christmas... bottom line- WHAT DO YOU REALLY WANT?

Think of the last time you got something you really wanted. A big screen TV, that new car, money to repair the roof, new tires for the car, a new computer- you get the point. What did you do to get it? You see, if you really want something you can always find a way to get it. There is always a way, if you value it enough. Again, WHAT DO YOU REALLY WANT?

Do you really want it or just want it a little? Well, you just don't have the money... Have a Garage Sale- you could easily make a few hundred dollars selling all the crap you are saving in your garage. You are just not into (fill in the blank) ie: nutrition, e-books, health & wellness, marketing systems, computers. Whatever you can think of. It just doesn't turn you on.

Those are just excuses, an excuse is a way for you to feel better about your circumstances, because at least you are trying, you are actually looking. You may not be doing, but you have really good reasons. Excuses steal your dreams!

YOU ARE AFRAID- THAT IS THE BOTTOM LINE!!! All the excuses lead to this, there is a fear associated with doing something different, something new- stepping out there. It is normal... and everyone goes through it. BUT... until the thing that you want is bigger than your fear, you will not succeed.

The economy is bad right now and everyone can agree on that. However, people are still making money and some people are making a lot of money, in fact there are people out there right now that are having their best year ever! - How is that possible? I hear on the news that everyone is in trouble, people are losing their homes and their jobs, it's another depression- THE SKY IS FALLING!

The one thing I can tell you is -DON'T WATCH THE NEWS! - It will depress you.

What should you be looking for in a Home Based Business?

Everybody seems to be searching these days for that elusive "perfect business", you see them scrambling online jumping from one to another as the Pied Pipers (gurus) of the internet claim - "Get in now! massive spillover" or "this is the best program in years!" or my favorite " You are guaranteed to succeed!". You want a guarantee ( or as close as you're gonna get) - buy a McDonald's franchise and open it up in Los Angeles. Oh, don't have the $1.5 million franchise fee, oh well, maybe you can win the lotto!

The bottom line is- if someone is promising you that you are guaranteed to succeed- run as far as you can away from that person. Now there are programs that are better than others and you will have to decide what is best for you. But, I digress- this is a post about what you really should be looking for in a business. now this does not cover everything, but it should be a rough guideline. Feel free to disagree and follow you're own path, I am listing traits that any businessman would say makes good business sense. Here goes:

1. The company must have some kind of track record. Given the fact that 95% of businesses fail in the first 3 years, you don't want to get involved with a company that goes down in 1 year. I like to look for companies that have been around at least 5 years. This way you know that they have worked the bugs out of their system.

2. This may go without saying, but what kind of reputation do they have and are you personally familiar with the company. If you find that a company is getting all kinds of bad press then I would stay away at least until the press quiets down and fallout is given a chance to happen. Remeber Mannatech- it is a great company with good products, HOWEVER, remeber the 20/20 special about the questionable claims its distributors were making about the miracle healings the products delivered. It does not matter if the story is true or not, perception is reality and you do not want to always be selling against the story, it puts you at a severe disadvantage.

3. Are the owners/managers successful business people. Have they successfully managed busnesses. This is all important - if you have a great product and a great comp plan and everyone is excited- all it takes is one bonehead decision to bring the whole thing tumbling down and it is very hard to pick up the pieces and put that thing back together again.

4. The products must serve a purpose and be in a growth industry. Let's take health and wellness- a lot of people say to me "I don't want to be in the health business, it is boring". I can tell you one thing and it may insult a few of you especially if you are thinking that right now- a real business person would never ever say something like that! Bottom line is you want to be in a growth industry and right now the health and wellness industry is booming and expected to grow by 4 fold over the next 10 years. Many Millionaires will be made in this industry over the next 5 years. People will always want to look better and feel better! That is why the weight loss industry continues to grow.

5. Is there a marketing system in place that you can plug into to help you build your business. This is a very important part. Remeber the McDonald's example- they have a great marketing system- it is called advertising. All the franchisee's pool their money and give it to the company in the form of fees so that the company will advertise and drive customers to your store. What kind of system or perks is your company working on.

That is 5 to start with and I that should give you a great starting point- if you feel that one of these does not fit for you and you have something else to look at then by all means go for it- remeber it is your business and you need to be able to faiul or succeed based on your own efforts, so don't start out with a deck stacked against you!

What Is This About Craigslist?

The bottom line: if you are not posting on Craigslist on a consistent basis, you are literally letting money fly by. I speak to people everyday that make 95% of their income from craigslist. What is craigslist : it is a free classified site that you can post almost anything in: Jobs, Biz ops items for sale etc. Think E-bay, but without the bidding and fees!

Craigslist was incorporated in 1999, and to this day consistently generates billions of page views per month. There are approx. 30 million users per month that use Craigslist. This is very targeted traffic. I consistenly get 10-20 opt-ins per day from ads I place on Craigslist. I do not place just 1 or 2 ads, I place a few hundred ads daily on Craigslist.

This is about expanding your focus and driving traffic to your website. Craigslist is a FREE service for the most part. They do charge a fee to post in Jobs in selected cities: New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, Orance County, San Diego, Chicago and Sacramento.

Imagine being able to get 10-20 targeted leads per day to your business. How would you be doing? Beware, however, just posting blindly with leave you frustrated. You still need to have the skills and consistency to drive that traffic. Ads and headlines have to create enough interest to the viewer that will make them go to your site.

With an ad on craiglist: less is more. I have seen many ads that are a page long with all kinds of info. Your goal is to create as much curiosity to have that viewer want to go to the web site to see what it is all about. The other thing is people don't want to read a lot in an ad. If it is too long, they will skip it. There is a great site that gives you all kinds of info and great training on craigslist and other classified sites. As with anything you must be consistent, I try to post everyday. Some are better than others, but you always need to test to find your niche.

I'll be rating each method on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being best) for speedand for effectiveness.

Article Marketing
Thanks to Travis Sago's Bum Marketing, this has become very popular among those who don't have a lot of money to spend. I'd been doing article marketing long before Bum Marketing ever became a household word. I'm glad I did, or I'd be having a very hard time today. Article marketing is cheap, no question about it. Hell, it's free. But it's also a slow process. You can't write one article and expect to get thousandsof people to your web site UNLESS you're in a niche that is virtually unknown. But then, if you ARE, how much traffic do you REALLY think you're going to get? If there is that little competition, then more likely than not, there isn't a lot of traffic to begin with. Article marketing requires you to write constantly. Naturally, if you're in a niche that isn't too saturated, your articles will get indexed higher in the search engines. If you're in a competitive niche, not so high. The only views you'll probably get are the ones from people going directly to the article directories themselves. I'll touch on search engines last so don't worry, we'll get there. Article marketing can be very effective in any niche, provided you write good articles and submit to places that get a lot of traffic, like EzineArticles. All my niches, regardless of what they are, get good amounts of traffic from submitting there. So from my experience, it's safe to say that you'll get a good amount of traffic just by doing this. However, you have to write a ton. There is no way around that unless you outsource all your articles. Then, it's no longer cheap.

Pay Per Click
This can be the best or the worst form of advertising in the world. The problem with pay per click is two fold.
1. The cost factor, depending on your keywords.
2. The skill factor, depending on how well you can write a 3 line ad.

I'm not going to spend a ton of time on this because there are a zillionbooks written on this subject, but I will briefly touch on the two points above so you understand why pay per click can be such a bitch.
1. The cost factor - Some niches are dirt cheap. You can get a 3rdposition listing for 5 cents with no problem. Have a good landing page, as per Google's "definition" and you can clean up. My friend Juan Walker makes a fortune on his acne product using Adwords because he has the most relevant product for those keywords and has been around a longtime. Look up acne cure and you'll find his product number 1. However, some niches are a fortune. I don't use Adwords for my IM products because the CPC is about a buck. Let's do some math. Let's say your product converts at 2%. That means, in order to make 1 sale, you need 50 clicks. That's $50 at a buck a click. If you're selling a$19 ebook, you better have one hell of a backend that converts like crazy, or you're going to go broke. That is just simple math. There is no way around the law of mathematics. So the cost factor of pay per click can make it so that it's just not feasible to use for your business model.
2. The Skill Factor - In the few niches I am in that are not IM where the CPC isn't so bad, there is still another problem...how well your ads are worded. I split test all my ad groups and you'll be surprised how just ONE word can make the difference between a CTR of 1% and a CTR of 5%. I am no expert on 3 line ads. I have to work very hard at it. Somebody just starting out with no copywriting skills at all is going to get buried by a low CTR. Why? The lower your CTR, the higher your CPC. Is pay per click highly targeted? Yes and no. Yes, it is if your ad exactly matches the page that the prospect is landing on. But if it doesn't, you run a great risk of having that prospect close up your page because it doesn't match what he's looking for. Pay per click is NOT for the feint of heart, regardless of what anybody tells you. There is a ton to making it work just right, which is why there are so many books on the subject. I know very few people who have figured this beast out themselves. My ratings below are based on the AVERAGE PPC user, NOT an expert.

Forum Participation
So many people say, "Participate in forums" to promote your product. Well, guess what? This doesn't work in every niche. Some niches don't even have forums. Other niches are so strict that they don't allow signatures at all and even a hint of self promotion and your butt will be thrown out of the place. So forum participation is a very select method of promotion. And even at places where they do allow signatures, you still have to follow the rules. I'm not going to get into rules and etiquette here. I want to focus strictly on the effectiveness and speed of forum marketing. It isn't the magic bullet people think it is, even at forums that allow promotion. When you first arrive at a forum, unless you already have a big name in your field, you're a nobody there. You are unknown. So the first thing you have to do is introduce yourself. Now, don't think that once you've done that, people are going to come flocking to your sig file. They won't. You have to establish a presence there. You have to build trust. This takes time...LOTS OF TIME. You have to constantly add to the community while at the same time, not step on any toes of the long time members. Some may take offense to you coming in and offering your 2 cents on every subject in discussion. So you have to tread lightly and carefully. This is one hell of a balancing act and trust me, I am speaking from painful experience, it is NOT an easy one to do. Point is, while forum participation can eventually make a name for yourself, provided you REALLY have something to offer, it is not an overnight thing. It can take months before you're "accepted" by the community, if you're ever accepted. Sometimes, people just don't like you and there's not a blessed thing you can do about it.

Safelists & Traffic Exchanges
Now we run into forms of traffic generation that ONLY work in the make money niche. Forget about trying to get somebody to buy your get out of debt product through safelists. This form as well as the others that follow is just not targeted to anything other than opportunity seekers. But why? The reason is simple. The people who join safelists and traffic exchanges are interested in just one thing...promoting their business. They are NOT your prospective customers in any manner, shape or form UNLESS you have a way for them to improve THEIR business. Otherwise, don't even waste your time. So, if you are in the "make money" niche, the way you reach these people is by giving them free info on how to get more traffic to their site and make more money. Don't try to sell them anything. You're wasting your time. Then, once you have them on your list and have gained their trust, then you can try to sell them. The following ratings apply ONLY if you are in the "make money" niche. I have built some decent sized lists using these methods. The good thing about them is that they are free and used correctly, they do work fairlywell.

Video Marketing
This is a relatively new gimmick. Truth is, it can be very effective or it can be a total waste of time depending on your niche and what you have to offer. There is no question that in the right niche and with the right keyword tags for your videos, you'll get indexed at Google damn fast and as you've seen, some videos have hundreds of thousands if not MILLIONS of views. But...in order to have this happen, your video better be something that people are going to talk about and pass around. If your video doesn't get somebody's attention right away, you're dead. Nobody has any patience anymore. They want instant entertainment and excitement and that's what your video has to bring them, otherwise, they won't watch. It's that simple. There are a few good books out there on how to create videos that will make people want to watch. And don't go by my videos. I'm just a tell it like it is guy and my videos are far from entertainment and don't get many views. I do mine strictly for a very select groups of people. Now, there is another problem with video. Even if you get a lot of traffic, you will find, depending on your niche, that a lot of this traffic is worthless. Why? They're just surfers. They're not really looking for any great solution to a problem OR they're looking for a free one. You will find many reports from people saying that their video traffic doesn't convert well, if at all. Bottom line: Video is a crap shoot, even WITH a great video. Depends on your product and what you're offering.

Social Bookmarking
I'm not going to go into a long spiel on this because my experience tells me that this is not a quick fix. In order to get any significant results from social bookmarking sites like DIGG, you have to constantly bookmark the articles on your blog, site, whatever, and write constantly. Over time, you'll see some results. But again, just like video marketing, which at least is fast, the traffic is pretty crappy unless you're bookmarking something that is really so incredible that people have to have what you're selling in relation to it.

Search Engines
Ultimately, this is what it all comes down to. Bottom Line: Somebody types in "How To Fix My PC" and your site ends up on page X. That's it. That's all that matters. I've been fighting the search engine wars for over 5 years now. With some keywords, you'll find me on page 1. With others, you'll find me nowhere. It all depends on the competition and how much time you want to spend working on: Optimizing your page versus the other guy Getting backlinks Doing link exchanges Off Site SEO And so on. This is the slowest traffic generation method in existence, trying to win the SE wars. Good luck. I don't even bother trying anymore. Instead, I focus on using promotional techniques that get my message in front of my prospect quickly and cheaply. Over time, these methods do build up momentum and do bring me in a nice income. Here is the breakdown, percentage wise, of my monthly income. Article Marketing - 67% Safelists, TEs, FFA Sites, Message Boards - 20% Forum Participation - 13% My monthly advertising expenses - $200 My average monthly income - $10,000 I'm cheap, but my ROI is also ridiculous. Do I work a lot of hours? Yes. If you look at my above analysis of traffic generation methods, you'll see why. Now, I haven't covered everything as far as traffic generation. I've leftout things like buying leads, classified ads, banner exchanges, soloezine ads, and a few others, either because they are insignificant, don't work or are just not cost effective enough. Solo Ezine ads actually can be very good if you know some tricks. I'll cover that in another thread someday because they'll take a whole thread to explain properly. There is an art to solo ezine ads. Anyway, I know this was long (took about an hour to type out) but I hope it was helpful to somebody. As you can see, there is no magic bullet to traffic generation. I doubt that there ever will be.

So Why Do You Do What You Do?

This topic is a favorite of mine. I'm about to share with you a very, very vital (yet overlooked) technique that never fails. That’s right. NEVER fails. I always stress this technique when I’m coaching new Home Business Owners and Entrepreneurs. Works like a charm.

As a matter of fact, I’m even giving you some homework this weekend because I think the dog days of summer may be getting the best of you and I want to keep you sharp ;)

So let’s dive in…

In today's society we often put a lot of emphasis on HOW things are done. Present a plan with lofty goals to the board of directors of any company and surely they will ask you how you suppose those goals will be met. Apply for a mortgage and you will be asked to demonstrate how you plan to pay it off. Give a professor the correct answer to a complex question and chances are you'll be asked how you arrived at your conclusion.

The HOW is often so predominant that the WHY is sometimes completely forgotten, as if the WHY is of less importance. Nothing could be further from the truth. WHY you want something is infinitely more important than HOW you think you're going to achieve it.

Phew. That was tiring just to write. Did you get all that?

But if you don’t (and most don’t), then it’s time you found out. If you’re not achieving the results you would like to be achieving in your Home Business enterprise, chances are very good that this is why (no pun intended).

Stay with me now. It’s gut check time…

To find out what you’re WHY is may just be as simple as identifying what it is that you want, right? Everyone knows what they want, right?

Wrong…

It's a bit more challenging than one would think. Ask an adult to write down everything they want on a list with a minimum of 10 items and you will find that for most it turns out to be quite difficult.

Stating that you want a certain amount of money, want to quit working or just want a bigger car than your neighbor can cause people to experience discomfort. After all, it may make them appear greedy or lazy and that's not generally considered positive. So they try to come up with something that's socially acceptable and in doing so, make what they want subject to the opinions of others. Not good.

Here’s the interesting part…

Kids on the other hand have no problem here. They'll come up with 10 items and more in no time, listing things you didn't even know exist. They don't worry about what others may think of it, whether it makes them look greedy, lazy or whatever. All they know is that they want it. Fascinating when you think about.

You see, kids have not yet been brainwashed or conditioned into thinking that they can’t have certain things. They just assume they can have anything they want, right?

And so can you. You just may not realize it yet.

Here’s a very effective exercise for you that will really bring to light exactly what it is that you want in life so you can pin point your WHY.

Chances are you've never done this...

Figure out what it is that you DON’T want first and what you do want will become crystal clear. This is a technique called “clarity through contrast” and it basically states that when you observe what it is that you don’t want in life it then it delivers clarity which makes it clear what you do want.

Easy enough right? Here comes the hard part…

Write it down now. Make a list of the things you DON’T want in life. It will only take you a few minutes and it’s actually a pretty fun exercise because when you actually come to terms with what you DON’T want it becomes clear what you DO want. The peace of mind you will experience by being clear is just, well…you’ll see.

After you’ve identified what it is you want, then you get to your all important WHY.

So why would you want all those things? Again, kids have the upper hand here. They'll be quick to point out why they want it all: mostly the fun they will have and the popularity it will give them. Ask an adult why they want something and you'll enjoy watching the expression on their face. You'll see them searching for an answer.

Why would you want to be rich? Why would you want to quit working to have your own business? What would you do if you no longer had to go to a job every day? You may decide you want a bigger house than anyone in your family before you ever had.

But what does that do for you? Would you sleep better? Would it make your life better? Would it make you happier? Whatever it is, it's critical that you know.

Exactly HOW you plan to achieve your success is far less important, especially early on. Too much focus on the HOW early in the process can have a devastating effect. It could paralyze you. I call it "analysis paralysis."

If your financial situation is so bad that you're actually below broke then achieving financial independence can seem so far fetched that reaching it appears impossible. You might sell yourself on the idea that it's so far out of reach that you couldn't possibly make it happen in this lifetime. As much as that may seem true at the time, it doesn't have to become your reality. Don’t be sold.

However, in order to get there you will probably have to overcome some serious hurdles. And for that to happen, you need a reason to get up and take the necessary action. That reason needs to be strong enough to pull you through the tough times that inevitably will come. That reason is your WHY.

History is packed with unbelievable stories of accomplishment. People facing seemingly insurmountable odds who overcame obstacles you wouldn't believe. Individuals with relentless determination who decided to push on in situations where most people would give up.

Why is that so many people throw in the towel when things don't go their way and only a small number of people seem to persevere?

It's not because they are genetically stronger and it's not because they have been dealt a better hand in life. What sets them apart is their WHY. That's what keeps them in the game. Their WHY is so strong that whatever gets in their way, they will find a way to deal with it. They don't have all the answers, but what they do have is an inner conviction that they can and will find the answers.

...And they are crystal clear about what they want.

Nailing down your WHY is one of the most powerful ways to improve your chances of success with your home business. So make sure that you know what your WHY is. Find it and refine it over and over again. Make it so strong that achieving it becomes an absolute must for you and the HOW will absolutely reveal itself to you over time. Trust me.

Take action.

P.S. Don’t forget your homework assignment. Make a list of the things you DON'T want and you will instantly see what you DO want. Your WHY will appear right before your eyes. Don’t take this assignment lightly. I’ve done this many times and it is quite dramatic what your new found clarity will bring you

Multiple Income Streams- Got Some?

You see it all over the net- Multiple Streams Of Income On Autopilot! What is that autopilot thing all about. I have never seen a business on autopilot and I don't think it exists. There are some things that are close don't get me wrong. There are definitely people out there that have mastered Google Adwords and just run a campaign and the money rolls in, but even that has to be tweeked every now and then. Well that's a bit off topic-

Why is it so important to have multiple income streams online? It is important offline as well, but since we are all online here we will adress online. Review the following scenerio: You have just found that geat biz, the opportrunity that is going to take you to 6 figures a year and beyond. You met the CEO and he is an upstanding guy. The payplan is terrific and no hints of a ponzi scheme or an illegal pyramid. You are set to go. You put everything into it and for 2 years you have concetrated on this one business, you are going great and making $15k a month and more. Unfortunately something goes wrong- your upline is no longer returning your calls, the people at the corporate office are polite but you sense somethin amiss. The very next day you learn that the company is being investigated and all the accounts are frozen. The CEO is nowhere to be found and you are owed 2 months commissions.

You have spent 2 years of hard work and your invaluable time to build a business that dissappears. Can't happen to your company? It can happen to any company! It has happened to many companies throughout the last 50 years and it will happen to others. It may not happen to your company, but you need to protect your income. I have seen it happen to many people- an income that dissapears.

Having multiple income streams will protect you if one of those streams decreases or dissappears.

One of the other reasons I like having multiple programs is the ability to offer a full spectrum to people. You have to agree not every program is for everyone. Some people like programs that payout $2000 per sale- the high ticket programs. Some people are looking for lower cost program, some people-free programs, etc.

I like the fact that I can offer a wide spectrum of things, kind of like, something for everyone. It is important-if you want to make a good 6 figure income online, that you find a way to be able to offer more than 1 thing to your list. Does it make sense to have a store and only stock 1 product?

You may or may not agree, but here is a list of my programs that I am promoting, this will give you an idea of the wide range of offerings:

1. Golden Ticket - this is a mid priced program promotng Shaklee (probably the best Network Marketing Company Going Today) - Excellent for long term residual and a stable company.

3. iBuzzPro - A phenomenal prospecting tool that you can also sell to anyone that has a business. A tool that will allow you to call thousands of prospects within hours- and have the serious ones call you back! - Everyone can use this! Imagine prospects calling YOU!

4. ASD and Golden Panda- These are 2 Advertising sites - surf for pay sites that pay 1% per day for surfing other sites. See update blog for info- Sites are not operating right now and are being looked at by the Governement to make sure they are operating within the law.

Imagine if you were the one that was only promoting ASD or Golden Panda, your income stopped right now and the future was unknown. Worst of all you have nothing to do until the feds finish up. Now ASD and Golden Panda will probably be fine (no I don't know anything), but you are losing valuable time while everything gets sorted out.

Are You Better Off With A High Ticket Program Or Low Cost Program?

I have pondered this question more times than I would like to admit. I have been told that it takes the same amount of effort to market a low cost program than a high ticket item. I have definitely found that to be true. You must go through the same things when marketing anything online or offline.

When deciding what you want to market and promote you must ask yourself how comfortable you are with the price. Now that seems to be an easy one for some, but I have seen many programs priced between $20 and $100 that I would not pay 2 cents for. I have also seen programs priced over $2000 that I have seen an incredible value in and would have paid more for.

The bottom line is- what do you think of the value? If it is valuable to you then the price is right. You have to remember 1 thing in marketing- you are selling the value not the price! I have many years experience in the Mortgage Loan business and it was drilled into my head from the very begining- "sell the sizzle, not the steak".

People want value for what they are getting. People may say that it is the price, but that is wrong- they know it. People rarely buy on price, they almost always buy on value. Some people think it is easier to market the lower priced programs- that is not true at all!

If you want to be a successful online marketer- regardless of what you are marketing- then you need to realize that price does not matter. What are you giving people in return for the product. Can they reach their goals with what you have to offer or not?

A question for you if you still think it is all about the cost. If I told you that I had a winning lottery ticket in my possession and it was a guaranteed winner of $1,000,000. I was going to tell you where that ticket was and all you had to do was get it and cash it and the $1,000,000 was all yours. Now, for that information I was going to charge you $2500, but that was only available today and I needed cash. Would you be able to find the $2500? What would you do to get the money. You wolud exhaust every avenue to get that money- you would leave no stone unturned. You would even go as far as putting off your house payment for a month!

WHY?

Because the lottery ticket worth $1,000,000 is far more valuable than the cost of $2500. End of story.

Value trumps cost all day long!!!

In the end it is you who must decide what program you are going to go with. Do yourself a favor and make your decision on the value of the product and not the cost and expect that your prospects will do the same!

I just finished an impressive book titled: "Action! Nothing Happens Until Something Moves" by Robert Ringer and as I often do when I come across great material, I want to share some key thoughts that may help you greatly...

The "Action Phenomenon" is more important than you may understand and actually goes much, much deeper than you may realize.

This week I'm going to share with you Robert Ringer's 4 Pillars Of Action that MUST be present or else…

…No results, but more important, no "happiness." More on that in a moment.
The 4 Pillars Of Action That Must Be PresentFor You To Move Forward

1. Nothing Happens Until Something Moves:
Ideas, preparation, knowledge, and wisdom are all essential in the pursuit of achievement, BUT…ideas, preparation, knowledge and wisdom are useless without action, because action is the starting point of ALL progress…

Love this one...I despise the entitlement mentality that is running on overdrive in this country right now. People are constantly looking for a hand out or the Government to bail them out. It's getting ridiculous.

Isn't it interesting that the ones with the most "luck" are the ones who are often implementing (putting into action) the most plans? This may be a little deep for some but I have news for you…"Outside forces" always come into play when one takes action and the bolder the action, the more powerful these outside forces seem to be.

3. The Law Of Averages:
Coming from an extensive sales background I really appreciate this one. The Law of Averages is actually a universal principal which means it never fails to work. Action is the key to the brains ignition. Here's my favorite part, and may come as a surprise to many: You DO NOT need to be motivated to act! Read that again.

…Fascinating.

You see, most people "wait" to be motivated to take action which is why most people are stuck "waiting" for opportunity to hit them over the head. Opportunities never come to those who "wait." Ever...

I highly suggest you grab yourself a copy of: "Action! Nothing Happens Until Something Moves" by Robert Ringer. This was a NY Times best seller and the story about the bold action the author took to make it a best seller is incredible. I won't give that part away...

The book does a nice job of really breaking down the so called "Action Phenomenon" a lot further than I did here and will help you get clear on why you may or may not be taking the necessary action in your Home Business enterprise.

It's essentially comes down to strengthening your personal infrastructure and making sure your purpose is in line with your goals otherwise taking action becomes pretty difficult. You may be surprised at what you find.

MLM - The Last Hope For The Little Guy?

I have probably spoken to over a thousand individuals over the last 2 years about various businesses and opportunities. Sadly most of them never did find a business to start. A variety of different reasons, any where from no money to no time to my favorite: zero risk tolerance.

We have all heard the following quote."if you continue do the same thing for the next 3 years as the last 3, you will be in the same place that you are today except 3 years older." You may gag when you read this, but it is absolutely true. People want something different, they want something better - they frely admit that they are looking for something better: more money, more time - a better life. The only problem is, that all they do is look.

Do you know anyone that contnues to shop for clothes, but never buys any. Of course not, people need clothes, at the very least they will buy underwear even if they wear donated clothes. The reality is, that people are shopping for HOPE! It is just like buying a lottery ticket. It is nice to dream about winning, in fact you hope you win. Deep down you know that you probably won't win, but the cost of a dream is cheap at a buck. That dollar gives them the right to dream about what they will do with that million dollar jackpot: A new home, new cars, never step foot in their workplace again. People need HOPE!

People spend their whole lives building someone else's dream. They punch a clock and spend 8-10 hours a day working to make their boss's dream a reality. Their boss controls their life- tells them when to work, when to leave and when to go on vacation. Is this a life YOU WANT! Of course not , but what can you do? The traditional business costs thousands of dollars to start and even more for a known franchise. A McDonalds franchise can cost over 1 Million dollars. Yikes! Everyday working people don't have that kind of money, nor do they know how to get it.

There is hope for the little guy. It is called Multi Level Marketing, Network Marketing, Referral Marketing, etc. I have heard it called many things, including a pyramid scheme, a scam, an illegal enterprise. I am not here to argue whether MLM is legal. That was decided by the courts in 1979. In 1975 the Federal Trade Commission accused and sued Amway Corporation for operating as an illegal pyramid. After four years of litigation the court ruled that Amway’s multi-level-marketing program was a legitimate business and not a pyramid scheme. As far as I am concerned that ship has sailed.

Let's examine what MLM does for the everyday person. People can get involved and start a business for a fraction of what a stand alone business costs. Since most people are not business savvy, training and education is provided, usually for no cost or sometimes with a nominal fee.
It is true that you are a distributor of that organization and must distribute their product. That is not any different than owning a McDonalds franchise. Can you imagine going into a McDonalds and seeing a menu for Burger King?

Let's get one thing straight here. You must realize that the reason MLM exists is to give ordinary people an opportunity that they would not normally have. That is, the opportunity to participate in the profit structure of the retail sales model. No matter how you slice it, products must get into the consumer's hands. Tim Sales does a great job of explaining MLM on his site First Class MLM . The MLM companies are paying you (the distributor) to get the products into people's hands. The more product you move the more money you make- simple! This is a business after all and you are paid based on your production. This is how it should be.

After all, the company can spend millions of dollars on advertising to get the products out in the market place, but a few smart people over 40 years ago thought it would be a better model to trust word of mouth and reward the people that spread the word. You should appreciate the opportunity to make a living from this model. I do. I am thankful that I could start a business for less than $500 with the potential to make a good 6 figure income.

I know you have seen it all before. The big time promises of fast money and guaranteed wealth online. It sounds so appealing, just plug in and go. Your check is in the mail! Every day there is a new program launched that "is sweeping the net". Yeah, it's sweeping alright! Sweeping all the money out of people's bank accounts with another promise of easy money! I want you to understand something: THERE IS NO EASY WAY TO WEALTH! If there was then everybody would be wealthy and driving the car of their dreams.

There is one irrefutable fact that is bandied about online all the time, and it is this: 95% of people that start a business or get involved in an opportunity will quit. That's right I said QUIT, I did not say fail. The biggest myth out there is that people are failing online. People are not failing, most of the people that say they failed, actually quit. There are those unfortunate people that get involved with actual scams and had no chance of success. I am not speaking of those people here. Yes the internet is full of people and opportunities that just want your money so they can laugh all the way to the bank. That is a fact we all need to deal with. In a moment I will show you how to safeguard yourself against those thieves.

I know for a fact that some of you reading this right now have been in at least 2-3 programs over the last 6-8 months looking for that magic bullet that will take you to easy street! Now that is not saying that you cannot earn while you learn. in fact that is the best part about a home business, you can earn some money part time while you learn about what it takes to make the big money. Unfortunately, people don't want to learn first, they want the money first and as long as that is the case they will always be looking for that get rich quick plan that looks so enticing. You know, the one that never works!

In order to be successful online you must expect the following:

1. Expect to spend at least 6-9 months with your business, doing all the activities it takes to be successful. You must be consistent and willing to learn.

2. Expect that you will have bad days. Just keep going because it will get better.

3. You will need to spend money. If you are not willing to spend money then don't start a business.

4. You will need to spend at least 10 hours a week on your business with activities designed to produce results.

5. People will say NO! That is a fact you will never change.

6. If you quit you will not be successful! The only way to fail is to quit.

The Difference Between Internet Marketing & Network Marketing

There is a huge difference between Affiliate Marketing (AM) and Network Marketing (NM).

AM basically boils down to "bring 'em in, bring 'em in, bring 'em in!" There are plenty of these types of companies out there too, all ready and willing to take your money and lead you down a long path of frustration and wasted energy. Almost all of them will be around today and gone tomorrow. Only a few offer value to the end-user.

I suppose a few of them are worthy of joining simply for the exposure to AM methods one would receive. But none of these companies offer what we do in MLM... personal access to some of the greatest NM minds on the planet!

It's true that we have a whole wide world out there waiting for us to reach out and touch them via our Affiliate Marketing businesses. But more important I think is our strengthened ability to find so many, many more highly qualified people to introduce to our Primary NM business.
Here is a great example (I get several of these types of calls every week). A wonderful woman called me up last night. Now let me tell you this girl was fired up about her primary MLM business! I could tell right away I was talking to a really great prospect! The reason she was calling was simply to find out what she had got herself into with our AM franchise. You see, she was on the Net searching for leads for her primary Network Marketing business and she found my link on Google and clicked on it and the only reason I spent 20 minutes on the phone with her is because of the passion I heard in her voice.

So I spent some time explaining the benefits of AM to her and helped her to see how this will benefit her and her Team. The use of a Funded Proposal (an inexpensive offer with added value for the prospect) with a commission attached will help her bring cold leads into a warmer 'partner' relationship, and fund her future advertising campaigns. List building, using AM methods is by far the best way to generate high-quality leads for a NM business.

So the point here is that although I gathered this new partner through passive AM methods, it wasn't until I had that personal contact with her that I could convey the true benefits of joining up with me. See?? The most powerful AM system out there is still faceless and void of character, until you throw in some good old-fashioned NM skills in the mix. Without them, you will likely never build a long-term residual income from it. That leads me to expand upon NM and look at what the Mission of a Network Marketer is:"Spend time with those for whom working with you is the Right thing, among the masses of the Wrong People... and then avoid all the Wrong People."It’s simple time management. A good manager will firstly surround himself or herself with all the best people because that makes him/her look good (-:Then that manager will build up those people and promote their strengths and strengthen their weaknesses...But time management in Network Marketing means you only work with those people who deserve your time! The only people who normally get any of my time are those members who take their futures seriously enough to upgrade their affiliate accounts and are actively working at promoting their AM franchise, purchasing leads from a reputable company, or otherwise investing in their business.

If you do this business right, do you know what the best thing to happen to 5,000 people will be over the next few years? THEY GET TO MEET YOU!!That’s right! And meeting you via an automated system rather than in person or even over the phone, isn't going to serve you well unless you make the effort to say hello in person and offer your assistance… Autoresponders can do alot of the explaining and encouraging for you, but they will still leave he prospect/partner at an emotional distance.Just imagine if only 5% - that's 1 in 20 - of all the thousands of people you enroll in an Affiliate Marleting program over the next few years joined you in your Primary. 5% of 5000 is 250 people! All personally enrolled by you into that most important of income streams, your Primary Network Marketing business!

250 times 10% commission on $100 worth of product bought by each person every month is $2500 monthly residual payment to you!And since almost every existing and historical large NM organization (or downline) was built by having an average only 6 good people in it, chances are, out of 250 people , I'm positive you will find 6 good leaders.

In Network Marketing we build downlines. And we build people up. In Affiliate Marketing you find the people who will prove themselves to you - or not - as to how worthy they are of your very valuable time. From that you will not waste your energy trying to bring un-qualified people into your Network Marketing business. Take advantage of an AM vehicle! Fear - The Dream Killer

Most people say that FEAR is the False Expectations Appearing Real. Our mind is the most powerful computer on the planet. God has created what no man has been able to match. It has the ability to dictate our actions. What I mean by that is what the mind creates seems so real to us. Fear is one thing that we allow to dictate out actions. Most people fail to move forward because of the fear they have about what may happen. It could be something they experienced in the past or something that someone else experienced. We sabatoge ourselves by anticipating what may go wrong before we even take any action. We have all heard the following: "whether you think you can or you think you can't, you are right!"

What are people afraid of? Some are afraid of failure. They are so afraid of failing that they do not take any action. They spend their time researching every opportunity, looking at and examining every compenstion plan, all the products and all the ingredients. Looking for something that will prevent them from being successful. Now, I admit that you do need to do your due diligence and make sure that the company and products as well as your business partners are the right fit for you. If you do not believe in the product and cannot be proud of the company you will not be successful. That, of course, is normal research and is neccessary for your belief in the system and company. Some people will be over analyzing everything to the point that they will not take any action. They always find something that they do not like, something that does not "work" for them. The bottom line is that they are afraid that they will not succeed. So instead of moving forward, they allow the FEAR to paralyze them into taking no action.

This is the fact of generating money from home: there are many good companies with great products- and people are making good money working those programs. If they can do it, so can you. Do not allow FEAR to steal your dreams. That is what is at stake here. There is a reason that you are trying to make money online. maybe you are in debt, hate your job or want something more out of life. What we must remember is that each of us has the power to control our thoughts. It is never easy, but if you want to be successful it is something that you must do. The one way to control fear is by believing in yourself. Belief will conquer fear, every time!

Remember that fear is a false expectation appearing real. It has not happened yet and we are obsessed with it. Fear will hold you back in life and will prevent you from realizing your dreams. Next time you have a Fear about not being able to do something, replace that thought with an "I can do" whatever it is that you feel you cannot do. Delete the fear and replace it. The most successful people in business and in life have fear, they have learned to control it and continue to move forward.

Beware- The Internet Is Full Of Scams And Scammers

This is basically a follow up to me previous post. It is true that the internet is full of great information. But did you know that most of the information online is inaccurate. For example, take Wikipedia, for the longest time I actually thought that this was an online encyclopedia, kind of like Britanica or Americana, you know the kind you find in the library. I was actually astounded to find out that ANYONE can make changes to articles and even post articles. Furthermore there is no verification necessary. No-one is going to check the facts. It is really like a huge long running opinion peice where anyone can put their 2 cents in. And to think I was using it to help my daughter with her report!

I point this out for one reason- DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ! Far too often people are caught up in what they 'believe' to be true about the internet and for that matter anything they hear or read at all. The internet is continuosly changing and it is so easy nowadays to put up a website and make outrageous claims that some people will actually believe. Unfortunately people are falling victim to this time and time again. It is affecting everything we do. People are so desperate to believe they can actually make $1000's a month without any real effort that they will fork over $500, $1000, $2000 even $10,000. to someone that they do not know with money that they do not have. They do this on what I call the 2 H's, Hype and Hope.

The latest craze these days seems to be gifting programs These are a form of an illegal pyramid where in order to get paid you must get people to 'buy in' to the program. There is no real product being offered, in fact in a gifting program there is no product at all. You are just going to go ut and find charitable people to gift you money so they can go out and find people to gift them money and so on and so on. People are making $1000's monthly- so they say, with proof- pictures of fed-ex envelopes stuffed with cash. The life of a gifting program is averaging about 6-9 months, when one is closed another pops up with new websites and a slick logo.

My advice- stay away from gifting programs, you may make some money, but someone down the road will get burned.

How To Avoid Getting Scammed

I am really getting tired of seeing all the scammers out there ruining it for the rest of us. There are ways to make money online that is moral, ethical and legal. There are also ways to make money that are immoral, unethical and illegal. A question for you to ponder: Which camp would you like to be in?

That may seem like a strange question and of course you would answer that you want to be in the first camp, right? Of course any self respecting person would answer that question that way. If you ask that question of your business partners and they answer this way: "As long as I make money, what difference does it make." If they actually said that to you I hope you would run like h*** away from that person. The problem you run into is that most of the time they want to be in the first camp, but they may actually be in the second camp without even knowing it. Everyone wanting to make money with a home based business needs to do research into the company that they want to be a part of.

Let me give you the definition of a scam: A fraudulent business scheme. Fraudulent comes from the Latin word fraud, which means deceit. Deceiving someone means to trick them.

Some people have also been asking me about pyramids, meaning illegal pyramids:

Illegal Pyramid Scheme
An illegal business that involves the exchange of money primarily for enrolling other people into the scheme, usually without any product or service being delivered.

Sometimes there may appear to be a product - but it’s only there to “look” like a real business. Few people outside of the pyramid desire the product or they can get the same product elsewhere at a less expensive price.

If you enrolled me into your business and I paid $300 to join BUT THERE WAS NO VALUABLE PRODUCT THAT WAS EXCHANGED - that could be an illegal pyramid.

Network Marketing or MLM as an industry is not a Pyramid scheme, although there are companies that pop up that run a pyramid scheme. In 1979 the courts ruled that the Business of Network Marketing/MLM was a legitamate business practice see AMWAY v FTC 1979

If you are looking at a business that is set up in such a way that it rewards you for recruiting and the only people actually buying the products are in it for the business, you need to take another look at it. The FTC ruled that the product must have 'value' and be desired by people outside of the organization. There are many 'business' programs out there that offer products that have no real value or have a 'me too' aspect to it with inflated prices so they pay out huge bonuses for recruiting people. Anybody remember Prosperity Automated System that was shut down by the SEC, over 5000 members lost the $4k it cost to buy the system. The FTC has its sights on BurnLounge that it has determined to be an illegal pyramid, rewarding members for recruiting others heavily. BurnLounge has dismantled the MLM aspect of its business and left thousands of distributors out in the cold.

You must always do your due diligence and research before you join any company. The old saying always works- "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is"

Keep in mind, it will always be easy to find people that have "failed" in any particular business. No matter what business you are researching. People get into businesses all the time and either don't do anything or feel they shouldn't have to do anything to succeed. That is a problem that we as business people need to deal with. The internet is full of great things and bad things. One of the bad things is that there are many people online that actually believe you can get rich by doing nothing. This myth is perpetuated by the endless ads and sites touting this very thing as a sales pitch. Let me say this only once IF YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU CAN MAKE MONEY BY DOING NOTHING THEN YOU DESERVE TO LOSE YOUR MONEY!

There are many great businesses out there and ones that require only part time commitment, but don't think that there is some magic formula to achieve success. If you are willing to work hard and put in a consistent effort with the right company and business model your chances for success are greatly improved. When you do find a business and company you want to partner up with, make a decision to give at least 1 year of constant effort. I feel for the people who do not realize that these are businesses that we are talking about, and like any business it will take time and a focused effort to succeed. If you are looking to get rich quick- you will have better luck with the lottery!

Stop Being An Amateur & Start Being A Professional

1) A professional is someone who gets paid. An amateur is someone who doesn't.

Many people in this industry are really busy browsing the internet, holding mastermind meetings, training, visiting with the competition, emailing associates, watching American Idol, listening to their ipods, or just sitting around in a daze staring at their call display screen. Unfortunately, that's what the amateurs are doing and that's why they don't get paid.

If you want to start making a pile of money in this industry, just focus on recruiting and retailing (marketing - more on that if future articles) to prospective customers. So, in other words...JUST GO PRO!

2) Professional (wealthy) networkers are proud of the MLM industry. Amateur (poor) networkers are embarrassed to be in MLM.

That's crazy!

The network marketing (MLM) industry is the ONLY ethical, decent industry left for value-based humans who prefer to become wealthy by elevating others to their highest potential!

How would you like to be a lawyer and spend your life engaged in the orderly tranfer of wealth from those who earned it to those who didn't, or helping people literally get away with murder. Or how about a banker who loans money at interest which, in most Christian denominations, is defined as the venial sin "usury" and punishable by eternal damnation.

Folks, network marketing is a win/win, not a win/lose. Be proud of your profession. I'd rather jump of a bridge than do anything less admirable than MLM.

3) Professional networkers know business and marketing is a numbers game. Amatuers think there is some trick or secret they will discover that will make it easy for them to have success, so they don't have to work hard.

Here's my professional formula for working the numbers...

A) Prospect 25 people a day five days a week that you send to your "funded proposal". Never try and present your MLM company first to "opportunity seekers" (leads)!

B) Follow-up with only the prospects that purchase the funded proposal.

C) When the prospects that you followed up become involved with the network marketing opportunity you are marketing, get them plugged into your teams training system (this starts creating the duplication). My teams training system is called Fast Track.

If you follow the above formula for one full year...POOF!!! You're at $20,000 to $30,000 a month in virtually any company out there. Those numbers don't vary and I've seen dozens of people succeed by sheer effort and tenacity once they learned this simple secret. It's all a numbers game.

Top 10 Ways to Choose a Great Network Marketing Opportunity

There are a few network marketing opportunities that are just scams. There are far more that may be well-intentioned, but have a poor track record, for any number of reasons. So how do you separate the wheat from the chaff? Here are ten tips to help you pick the right network marketing opportunity for you.

1. Has the company been around for at least 5 years?
If you want the efforts you put in today to pay off for many years in the future, choose a company that has proven that it will be around for the long term. 90% of all network marketing companies FAIL within their first 2 years. You don't want to invest your precious time and resources (not to mention your future) in something that may not be in business next month, do you?

2. Is the company well capitalized?
In other words, does it have the cash that it will need to grow, to maintain a solid infrastructure, to attract talented management, to keep pace with technology — and, of course, to pay your commissions! (I prefer publicly traded companies because they're required to disclose their financial condition in DETAIL every 90 days to the SEC and other governmental agencies.
You may not be able to obtain this information on a private company, so you'll be taking a risk on its financial condition.)

3. Does the company offer products or services that are unique?
That is, they're not readily available elsewhere (especially at a discount) and they're not just another "me too" product that has loads of competition.

4. Is there a genuine need for the product or service?
You've probably heard horror stories about people ending up with a garage full of expensive water filters - the reason that happens is because only other distributors will purchase the product at that price! Your product or service must fill a REAL need at a fair price - and there should be a large untapped market for it. In other words, it MUST provide tremendous value, so the customer is the biggest winner.

5. Is the product or service trendy or a fad?
You can't build long term residual income (i.e., your retirement!) if the product or service only has short term appeal (e.g., beany babies, etc.). Think long term instead. Is the product or service something that your customers will continue to use for a long time?

6. Can you generate immediate income?
So that you can finance your marketing and expansion efforts from cash flow.

7. Does the marketing system take full advantage of technology?
Not everyone is a sales type, but ANYBODY can plug into a system and tools that do the selling and sorting for you!

8. Is the person who is introducing you to the opportunity committed to YOUR success?
If they are, the company is strong, and the product or service is a winner, (and, of course, you're willing to learn) you WILL succeed. There's a big difference between a "sponsor" and a "recruiter." A sponsor coaches. motivates and trains and a recruiter just signs people up and in most cases, abandons them.

9. Is there a way to build your business part-time without losing your full time income?
The company must have automated systems that can do the heavy lifting (i.e., selling and sorting) for you so that you can use your limited time efficiently.

10. Will you have FUN?
Although this may not be an element of your current JOB, we think it's important! You should have a lot of fun with your business partners while you work together to build a long term business and your financial army.

So there you have it — ten criteria for selecting a superior network marketing opportunity. Of course, even with a great company, there's no such thing as a free lunch. You WILL have to work! But, with the right opportunity (unlike your job), it won't have to be forever!

Q: Some friends continue to try to recruit me into network marketing deals that seem like some type of money game or pyramid. Other friends tell me they're illegal and I'll get into trouble. How do I know what's legal and legitimate?

A: To help you understand what network marketing is, I must first explain what it isn't. First, network marketing isn't a pyramid scheme. Pyramids are programs similar to chain letters where people just invest money based on the promise that other people will put in money that will filtrate back to them and somehow, they'll get rich. A pyramid is strictly a money game and has no basis in real commerce. Normally, there's no product involved at all, just money changing hands. Modern-day pyramids may have a product, but it's clearly there just to disguise the money game.

Network marketing is a legitimate business. First, it's based on providing people with real, legitimate products they need and want at a fair price. While some people do make a lot of money through network marketing, their financial benefit is always the result of their own dedicated efforts in building an organization that sells real products and services.

Pyramids are illegal and are based on taking advantage of people. For a person to actually make money in a pyramid scheme, someone else has to lose money. But in network marketing, each person can multiply his or her efforts, skills and talents by helping others be successful. Network marketing has proved itself as part of the new economy and a preferred way to do business here and around the world.

Network marketing isn't about taking advantage of your friends and relatives. Only a few years ago, network marketing meant retailing to, and sponsoring people from, your "warm list" of prospects. Do I Really Have To Sell Soap?

One thing you must realize is that any Home Based Business is still a business. Goods and Services must flow through it in order for it to be successful. There are many opportunities on the internet that are viable and will make you money. Most of these are product and service driven. Understand this loud and clear. If there is no product and/or service that flows through that business, it is not a business- it is a money game and those are being shut down left and right here in the US. Somebody will get burned-maybe not you-but somebody will.

You may have started a business or maybe you are looking at one. The most improtant thing you must do in order to succeed, YOU MUST BELIEVE IN WHAT YOU ARE DOING! If you do not fully believe in what you are doing, you will never get a prospect to believe in it either. Do you believe in yur products? Would you use them if there was no business attached to it. If all you are doing is moving products through because the business demands it, and you really wouldn't be buying them if the business was not there- that could be a problem. There are a lot of opportunities out there with copy cat products you could literally buy at the corner store. What is keeping people in the business and buying the products?

Naturally if you are invested in the business and are building it, you will be buying product. How about the person that you sponsored and quit the next month, is he/she still ordering the product? Would you order the product if you could not do the business any longer? That is something to think about. In order for anyone to make any money products have to move through the system. There was a great quote from someone in network marketing years ago: when asked if she was a sales person she responded: " I am not a natural sales person, but in this business if you want to get paid-'somebody's got to sell soap'.

So, you don't like sales? You don't like to sell? Hate to break it to you, you are selling everyday. Whenever you go to a job interview, go to work, out with your friends. You are selling yourself. Ever talk about a great movie you saw, and told your friend they just have to see it- SELLING! How about that new store that opened up with those great deals - SELLING! It is all around you. YOU ARE A GREAT SALESPERSON! Let's turn that Selling into Telling! You are used to telling people about things and recommending things to your friends. Don't Believe Everything You Read On The Web!

Information is now moving at the speed of light across the World Wide Web. You are making a mistake if you truly believe that all that information is correct. It is too easy for someone to pay for a domain name and publish a site. The total cost for something like that is less than $100. pretty cheap for someone to put up their opinions on a web site that can be designed to look professional.

Of course you need to take everything with a grain of salt. For example there are so many sites out there fanning the flames of scams on the internet. Now, of course, you need to make sure you know what you are looking for. How many 'scam report' sites have you seen that at the end of the report are guiding you to the #1 opportunity on the web. "Discovered and recommended after years of research". this is an example of a site that is promoting a program or product from the onset.

If you spend any time on the web - you have seen so many of these. The programs they are promoting, might be good and might be bad. One thing you MUST realize is that everything you run into on the web is selling something. They are always selling, no matter what they are telling you or how you see it. Either they are selling you off an opportunity or they are selling you an opportunity.

Whenever you look at a site you must realize that this is the case and do not take anything at face value. Make your own decision based on your own research. You will be the wealthier for it!

Did you know that every year over 500 new MLM/Network Marketing Companies are started. Within a 2 year period over 90% will fail. 5% will be treading water and the remaining 5% will last over 3 years. Can people make money? Yes. Those that get in first. The ones that get in near the end, well they lose and MLM/Network marketing gets another bad mark.

Did you know that in the US 90% of the businesses that are started on a yearly basis fail within the first 3 years. It is hard to run a business these days. It is very important to choose carefully when you start a business. There are really 7 critical elements that a MLM/Network Marketing company needs to give you the best chance for success.

Did you know there is a such thing as MLM Minimum Wage? That is when you are working like a dog to make $200-$300 a month. Is that any way to live? Of course not, we all want to work less, not more in our home based businesses.

What are the 7 things you should look for?

1. Unique Products: Products must serve multiple different Market Categories, Products must be unique enough to get Patents, and the Products have to serve the Masses. There is a problem if the company has only a few products or product lines. The more the better. Are the products something you will use regardless of the business opportunity? This is very important.

2. Company Stability: The ability to give you long-term business and financial security, based on their company and business history. Minimum 10 to 20 years using the network marketing as the primary method of distribution of products. This way the company has been proven and has survived the test of time.

3. Marketing System: The system must be Simple, Duplicatable and Proven successful for the average part-time person (NO SELLING). Can anyone plug into it and be successful? We are not talking about referring someone to a corporate website.

4. Company Management: Must be led by already Successful Leaders in Business with a Vision for the Future Growth. What kind of experience do the leaders have? Are they successful business people with a proven track record of success?

5. Global Reach: Must be groundfloor in their Global Expansion. Are they in every country already or are they in a few countries, but with plans for global expansion? You want a groundfloor global opportunity.

6. Compensation & Incentives: Maximize your income based on your efforts. Must payout at least 50% of Sales, must offer Unlimited Depth within compensation plan, must offer Fast Start Bonuses, must offer other Rewards and Recognition, you must be able to achieve $10,000/month true residual with less than 500 people in the organization. Do you know that with the average network marketing company you need over 1800 people in your organization to make $10,000 per month residual income.

7. Pay-It Forward: Does the company Pay-It Forward to the Masses. They must give back globally what they are taking out. The company's vision is to make an Impact on the World in a Positive Way. Are they a recognized leader in this area? They must care about the masses that they serve.

When choosing a company to align yourself with, make sure it is not just about the product. You may have heard the hype of the latest and the greatest product that literally sells itself. Let's be honest - no product sells itself. If it did, the company would not need you.

Of course you have. Have you been in a cave for the past 2 years? I think he is well known across the globe, especially with his hit TV show "The Apprentice".

Educate Yourself into Riches

Many of Wall Street's elite firms were being required to pay tens of millions of dollars in fines to investors, according to media reports. The penalties are for alleged bad investment advice, courtesy of New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer.

This brings me to one of my favorite quotes from famed investor Warren Buffett goes: "Wall Street is the only place that people ride to work in a Rolls Royce to get advice from those who take the subway."

I have been highly critical of the standard financial planning advice -- "work hard, save money, get out of debt, invest for the long term, and diversify" -- for a long time. Such guidance is often more a financial advisor's (subway rider's) sales pitch than a solid investment guide.

But while I think it's courageous that Spitzer slaps millions in fines on a few Wall Street firms for their bad investment guidance, I believe the investors who accepted that unsound advice have some responsibility, too. Isn't knowing the difference between good and bad advice part of knowing what you're doing?

The Difference Between Investing and Shopping

The problem is, most investors don't know how bad the standard investment advice is. This mantra of "work hard, save money, get out of debt, invest for the long term, and diversify" is followed by millions of investors -- who lost $7 trillion to $9 trillion between 2000 and 2004. Many are still following this bad advice today.

Not only did millions of investors lose trillions of dollars, many also missed the boom in real estate, oil, gas, and previous metals. Furthermore, despite investors' huge losses, Wall Street paid out some of its biggest bonuses in history.

However, investors should realize it's "buyer beware." Investing is different from shopping. If I go to Sears and don't like the tool or shirt I purchased, I can generally get my money back. When we go shopping, we expect value for our money. But when we invest, we do so in the hopes of making more money -- and knowing that we risk making losses. What would happen to the financial industry if brokers were sued every time a client lost money? The wheels of world commerce would grind to a halt.

My point is: The world is filled with honest people handing out bad advice. An example of honest bad investment advice is the standard one of "work hard, save money, get out of debt, invest for the long term, and diversify".

The world is also filled with biased advice, which is why people say, "Never ask an insurance broker if you need insurance, or a mutual-fund sales person if they recommend mutual funds." Furthermore, there are many crooks and con artists as well, who intentionally promote dishonest ventures.

Spotting the Difference

So while it's imperative that we have the Securities and Exchange Commission and a brave Attorney General such as Spitzer to enforce the rules, we, as individual investors, still need to be vigilant and personally responsible for the advice we receive and what we do with our money.
In my opinion, that means each of us needs to be responsible for our own financial education so we can tell the difference between good advice, biased advice, and crooked advice. If you can educate yourself to know the differences between those three types of advice, getting rich is easy.

Or, if you take investing advice from a subway rider, don't be surprised if you wind up on the subway.

Oh No! My Prospect Called My Opportunity A SCAM!!!

So you finally settled in on your opportunity. You checked it out, you spoke to the President of the company. You flew to the corporate office and met with the 3 top earners, each making over $1 mil. per year. You left the meeting with dreams of boats, planes and a tropic hideaway in Fiji. You were set. Those guys haven'e seen anything yet. $ 1 mil a year- that's chickenfeed!

You were on your way- UNTIL!, You were talking to your friends- (BIG MISTAKE!), they were shocked that someone as smart as you would be taken in by that SCAM!!! How do you feel? Getting second thoughts? Are you sure you looked everything over? Maybe you missed something.

They tell you that they heard all about this on Jerry Springer and you should not get involved in that at all. Keep your job at the meat plant and forget about your dreams, because this is the best there is. You suddenly sink into a deep depression. You have just made the first major mistake - talking to people 'close' to you. They are in just as bad shape as you are - maybe worse- and they do not feel comfortable enough to get out of the rut and they sure as heck don't want you to climb out and leave them there.

This is the biggest challenge a new person will face. As a matter of note I tell every body that starts in my business NOT to tell their family and friends. Do not make a list, just follow my simple guide and you will succeed - guaranteed! Do they listen? Sometimes, yes. Sometimes, no. The good thing is I prepare them for the avalanche of negativity and they are more prepared to live through the assault.

Trust yourself! Know that you have looked at this - it is an established company with great products and they are poised for future growth. unless your friend is a multi millionaire and is familiar with this industry - their opinion is not a valid one. You need to get around like minded people, that want the same things you want and are willing to help you get there - not discourage you. Positive support is esential to your sucess. you will not survive without it.

When someone calls your opportunity a SCAM!, after you have looked it over, unless they have copies of court documents and written opinions by the experts in the industry, You need to get mad. You need to defend you dreams. You want something and they are trying to take it away, how does that make you feel.

At first look it sounds terrific. All those Guru's online touting starting your own internet home based business for free. No money out of pocket. Great News. Right? Well, it depends on how you look at it. If you have ever taken someone up on that offer, you soon found out that there is no quick and easy free way to riches on the net. In fact, there is no quick and easy way period!

This may burst your bubble and dash your hopes of making a fortune by the end of the month, but reality is sometimes a sobering thing. You have to ask yourself a question when faced with one of these offers: if it is free and as easy as they claim, how come everyone is not doing it?

Good question. The fact is that any home based business, online business opportunity, network marketing program is going to take work and time and money to run if you want to be successful. There is no free ride in the world and the internet is no different.

Things you can do to give you the best opportunity for success:

1. Do your research. Many times the programs that people are offering are just new versions of the old stuff that has been rehashed over and over again.

3. Make sure that there is free lifetime training and support. You don't want to get into a situation where they are willing to work with you but only if you sign up for a training package that could cost you up to $100 a month.

4. Make sure your sponsor is responsive, are they available for your questions by email? You may not be able to reach them by phone - after all they are busy building their business as well.

5. Beware of so called FREE programs that ask you to purchase e-books and training material right off the bat with the offer of reselling it and making commissions.

6. Realize that you will have to make a decision and take the first step and start. It does you no good to continue to research for years at a time withut doing anything. If you do that you will be branded a tire kicker and will never do anything. You are a victim of analysis paralysis.

I realize that it is difficult to know if you are in the best opportunity. realize that there is no best opportunity, for the most part they are all good and you can make money with them. You must put in the effort to see the results. If you are looking for that one program that will give you instant riches without work - keep playing the lottery and get off the web!

Great Opportunity in Disguise! Can You Recognize It?

Imagine this. Your boss comes to you one day and tells you that they are going to be laying you off. They need to cut expenses and just cannot afford to keep you on. What are you feeling at that moment? I know, I have been there. You feel as though you have had the wind knocked out of you. You can't believe it. You have given this company over 10 years of your life. How can they do this?Just then your boss comes back and tells you that if you are willing to work 1 hour a day of overtime without pay, you will be able to keep you job. What would you do? Say yes, of course, you have saved your job and all you have to do is work 1 extra hour a day.

Then he tells you that this would be temporary and that if they saw you working really hard for that extra hour, they would reward you the following month with a small bonus, around $100.

You just went from sad to yipee! There is more: he now tells you that if you would be willing to do this for 18 months and continue to work hard then you would be able to retire with a full salary at the end of that 18 months. Would you turn him down? Of course not.

Fast forward to 3 months later. Your close friend is over for dinner and tells you that you are crazy to put in that extra time for no pay and maybe a measley $100 bonus at the end of the month. You should quit and find something else - they say. You are just a sucker. You try to explain that you are going to retire with full pay at the end of 18 months. They just don't get it.

6 months down and you are not spending enough time with your spouse and they are not happy. Why are you working so much? You need to be here more often. I don't know why you are wasting time at work. You feel like screaming: I AM GOING TO RETIRE IN 12 MORE MONTHS!!!

This may seem farfetched, but if you are trying to build any kind of home based business you have been in the same situation many times. People just don't understand. The time and effort you put in now will pay big dividends down the line. You are willing to sacrifice now to live the life you want later. this is far from the exchanging time for money mentality that most people have.

You must know that there is no legitimate way to fast and easy online riches. No one is going to send you money for doing nothing. It will take work and time and you realize that. in the end though, it is well worth the time and hard work when you are going on vacations 3 - 4 times a year, not punching a clock or minding the store.

What we are talking about is true financial freedom. The ability to build a business one time and reap the benefits for years to come and have your income always increasing.

Traffic building is an area that even the masters don’t always understand. They are constantly trying to come up with a new ‘angle’ to use to get traffic, or so they can sell their new ‘method’ to someone else—particularly the ‘newbies’ online.
So what are the top 10 myths about traffic building?

10) Guaranteed traffic works. The only thing that guaranteed traffic is guaranteed to do is make the person selling it money.

9) The more traffic you get, the more money you make. The truth is, only buyers make you money, raw visitors do not make you money. If you cannot make money with 100 visitors a day, it is unlikely that you will make money with 1,000 or 10,000 a day – you will just have to pay for more bandwidth from your web host.

8) PPC traffic is good traffic. It depends on what you think of as good traffic. If you need traffic to test with, great, use PPC. But if you really want to make money off the clicks, you will have to do a lot of testing to make it profitable. If you have been online for less than one year and are unwilling to spend more than $500 per month on PPC, PPC is probably not for you. PPC costs money to test and if you are just getting started, that is the wrong place to put your money.

7) It is worth your time to use tricks to monetize traffic exchange or safelist traffic. Sure, you can monetize it, but why? All the time spent would be better spent writing articles or cruising online forums.

6) The more article directories you submit to, the more traffic you will get. That may be true in the long run, but before you do it, research it good – don’t just take some gurus’ word for it. Do what works in the short term and build on that. If you cannot see measurable results today, it is unlikely you will see measurable results in 3 months. There are some exceptions – so don’t take this as concrete – but be sure and think about it before you spend a lot of time on it.

5) Get to number one in the search engines and you will get tons of traffic. I have several web pages that made it to number one and I got some traffic. I get far more article marketing. The problem with search engine optimization is that I can easily teach you to get to number one in a long-tailed niche market that has very little traffic, but getting to number one in a short tailed market with lots of traffic is much harder. Sure, you can do it, but when the PPC monsters change your ranking from #1 to #3000 overnight with one small scripting change, you are starting over. I do not believe you should chase the mythical natural search engine market. Do things right, and if you get close, push to get to the front page – but other than that, I think your time is a waste.

4) JV giveaways are good for you. Hmmm – I fell for that one. Sent a lot of traffic (good quality traffic, I might add) to some JV giveaways. Then they stopped spending as much with me, or at least that’s how I saw it. Think about this – if you are one of 5 people emailing your list daily, you have a chance of getting some sales, right? But if you send your subscribers to a giveaway that captures your subscribers’ email every time they download a free gift, and they download 30, for example, now they are on 30 lists instead of 5. What is that going to do to your response rate?

3) Ezine advertising is the best. Hmmm – this one is hit or miss. You must be willing to test, and test a lot. If you cannot afford to buy at least 10 different sources or ezine advertising so you can compare (some ezines might not even mail your offer at all), you might as well not do it. Better to do emailing swaps with list builders on your list.

2) You should buy lists – someone else has already done the work. This is one of the greatest lies – the important thing about a list is the relationship with you. If you buy a list, is there any relationship? No, or course not.

And for #1, the number one myth:1) Article marketing is only good for backlinks. That is crazy. I get as many as 30-40 new subscribers per day when I am actively writing and submitting articles like this one. That translates to around 100 very high quality visitors from writing articles just like this one. Article marketing is probably the highest form of traffic you can generate on the web.

You have heard it all before. That MLM thing is nothing but a scam, a pyramid scheme where the only way to make money is to get in fast and early and get out before the whole thing collapses. On the other hand, there are true legitamate opportunities that fall under the so called MLM banner. There are many factors to consider in determning the true value of an opportunity

Let us delve into some of the history of the free market system as relating to MLM or Network Marketing. Several manufacturers of products in the early 50's tried to sell their wares the traditional way, by going to stores and trying to get on the shelves and found that this was a tough task because the stores would rather spotlight their own brand products over something new and relatively unknown. If a company does not have a big ad budget and they want to keep tight control of the product and not sell the rights out for pennies on the dollar, it is almost impossible for them to make any kind of headway into the public domain.

There needed to be a better and cheaper way to get these products out there without spending millions on a Madison Avenue ad campaign. It goes without saying that I am referring to producs that were of the highest integrity and worth every bit as much as the so called national brands at that time. We are not talking about inferior products. Anyone that has used one of these products can attest to that.

MLM is born:

In 1954, a young man came up with a marketing system that would bypass the great advertising machine and take the product to the streets in the hands of entrepreneurs from all walks of life that believed in the product and the chance to make some money by recommending the products to friends and family. They were rewarded by the company through volume bonuses, so instead of the company paying big money for advertising - the money would go back into the pockets of the individual distributors. Basically payng the people that recommended the product for their word of mouth advertising. So in many cases, these products that were just as good as the national brands, would actually cost less to use because the company would save so much on advertising.

It is tue that there have been some MLM companies that have been considered a pyramid scheme andhave been shut down quickly by the FTC. MLM has gotten a bad rap because of Uncle Joe trying to sell Grandma Betty on the great business venture where you only have to get 4 friends to do the business and retire in a year. This get rich quick mentalty of some distributors that only care about recruiting new people as not helped the industry. When you have an army of distributors out there, the company can only do so much. Every reputable company has a code of ethics and expects their distributors to follow suit, but sometimes it is hard to enforce.

Anytime there is money to be made and big money involved there are the scam artists that will try to take advantage and give the industry a bad name. With the recent shutdown of PAS ( prosperity automated systems) we know the Government is always on the lookout for pyramid type schemes that only benefit the first people in. Don't rely on the government to always help out, even with PAS, it is estimated that over 5000 people lost the $4k investment they made and probably will never see it again. With PAS, the writing was on the wall. If someone tells you that you will make thousands of dollars a month with no work on your part at all- that should raise a red flag. No company of integrity is going to sell you that pie in the sky BS.

With the right company and compensation plan MLM/Network Marketing can be a true opportunity. Do not expect to become rich overnight. Like anything of value it will take work and some sacrifice, but with the right sponsor and system in place to teach you and give you step by step guidance, it can be a vey rewarding journey. It has been a way to business ownership for millions of people worldwide who otherwise would not have had the opportunity because of the usual high start up costs of traditional businesses.

What to Think About Guaranteed Sign-Ups

There are 2 schools of thought out there. The first is - "Great- Now I don't have to do any work!, I'll just buy my downline!" My home business is rockin now! The other is - "This is a people business and you cannot cultivate a relationshp with a purchased downline."

The answer seems to lie somewhere in the middle. While it is true that guaranteed sign-ups for your network marketing opporunity are a hit and miss proposition, when they hit it is usually a home run, but more often then not they go the way of guaranteed traffic. Which is nowhere. Unless...

You must be willing to treat them as prospects or leads. Technically they are just that, they have not purchased anything, they haven't even given you a credit card. There is no commitment on their part. For all you know they were paid to join, with either credits or cash. You just don't know.

Psychologically it is wonderful to say that you just started in the business and already you have 100 "sign-ups". But that could turn sour if they do nothing. That is where you will have to put the rubber to the road and build that relationship with them so that you can bridge the gap between sign up and active dowline.

When you buy sign ups, since you have not generated it yourself you do not know the motivation level. That means extra work contacting them to determine motivation. Of course you can say the same for a self generated sign up, but at least you know where they came from, or you SHOULD KNOW. Hopefully you are using a good tracking system fo your ads.

In my opinion, leave the guaranteed sign ups alone and learn how to generate them yourself, it may take longer, but this business is a marathon not a sprint. You really want quality targeted traffic to your sight so the sign ups will be worthwhile. I would rather have a motivated downline of 100 rather than a wishy washy downline of 1000.

Your MLM/Network Marketing Business - Opportunity or Problem?

This a fundemental questionthat you must answer if you are to be successful in your home business. Unless you can plug your downline into a duplicatable, simple system that will solve their # 1 issue , MONEY, you will find that you will need to constantly replace those members that are frustrated and inactive. Most people, me included, came to this industry because they needed money. If you cannot offer them a system that will be able to give them a quick income, you have given them a problem not an opportunity.

The reason people are not successful in this business is that they join, spend mney on product and some advertising, run out of money and can't stay in the business because itis cost prohibitive. If you were able to earn an income while you built your business, even if no one joined your primary business, how likely would you be to stay in the business and continue to build it. Duplication Is The Real Key To Success In Network Marketing & MLM

You have heard it before, thousands of times It is the key to the MLM riches vault. It is what will take your home based business from barely breaking even to income beyond your wildest dreams. All the sucessful people know it and they say it. But are they really teaching you what you need to know?

I have been in the industry long enough to have heard it all. "Just go get three people that want to change their life" - "Make a list of 100, 200, 300 people - Don't prejudge, I will help you contact them!" "Every no gets us closer to a yes" etc. etc. etc!

You get the gist of this. They are employing the old school mentality to MLM and Network marketing. Let me say this loud and clear - I DON"T WANT TO SELL MY FAMILY ON THIS OPPORTUNITY!

That's how you feel, right? That is how 99.9% of the people in the industry feel. The problem is, once you go through your 'warm market' and get 1 maybe 2 that will talk to you - the opportunity that you were so excited about, suddenly loses its magic. That is what happens to 97% of the people in the Home based business , network marketing, MLM industry. You get 3 out of 100 that are superstars and can work the phones and sell ice to an eskimo. The major problem is THAT CANNOT BE DUPLICATED!

In order to understand duplication you must be aware that most people are like you. They want the path of least resistance. They want to be shielded from direct rejection. Most people do not want to try and sell Uncle Joe and Aunt Mae on the new opportunity that will make their retirement look like the lifestyles of the rich and famous. It may be the best thing since sliced bread, but people will be resistant to doing what is uncomfortable. That is the way it is. That doesn't mean everything has to be easy, not at all. In fact, owning your own business is hard work and it will take hard work to succeed. That is the dirty little secret that no-one is talking about!

If you are to succeed in this business youhave to create a duplicatable system that a teenager can run with ease. Impossible you say! Ever hear of Mac Donalds? How hard is it to say "Want fries with that?" Why are franchises so successful, because they are duplicatable - everything is the same. In fact, representatives of MacDonald's Corp. sends people out to evaluate the various restaurants to make sure they all look the same and have the "corporate approved"
menu and signs. It is a no brainer - the system is the key, and the system is duplication - all across the world - China, US, France, Italy - it doesn't matter. You always know when you are in a MacDonalds.

Remember, duplicate success and you will be succesful. You set the tone for your group - they will expect to do what you do. If you recruited them by making cold calls, then they will expect to do the same. If they received a non threatening e-mail that directed them to a web site, then that is what they'll expect to do. If you keep it simple, it will be something for the masses!

How many times have you heard about a great home business opportunity? Probably more than you care to remember. But to go along with this how many of these home business opportunities ended up being a scam? Again, probably quite a few. Hopefully, you were never the victim of any of these scams. But unfortunately there are others who probably fell for these “opportunities.” The fact of the matter is that these scammers would not be wasting their time if they were not making any money. And as long as people continue to get mixed up in this business, these scammers are going to stick around to trick more and more people.

The best way to avoid a home business scam is to thoroughly research each opportunity before you move forward with it. This means doing much more than simply reading a bit about it online. You may get lucky and end up with a good home business opportunity, but chances are that you will not. Not only will you want to read what is available on the site itself, but you will also want to search for other information as well. Check with third party review sites and on message boards and forums. You may find out soon enough that a certain company has been reported as being nothing more than a scam.

You may also want to check with the Better Business Bureau if you are thinking about getting involved with a home business opportunity that you are not sure of. They will be able to tell you if they have any complaints on file. If they do, you will want to avoid the opportunity at all costs. But if it appears that a company is doing business the right way, you can continue your research.

If you cannot even talk to a company before you start, there is not chance that they will be around when you need them. Anything that will give you better insight into the home business opportunity is a good question.

Overall, home business scams are all over the place. Do your part in putting them out on the street by not falling prey. The best way to do this is through extensive research and questioning. Can You Really Succeed in Network Marketing/MLM?

So you decided to start a home based business or maybe you are
just looking into it. There is a daunting statistic that is staring you
in the face: 9 out of 10 of you out there will never make more than
$100 a month. That’s a far cry from $5k, isn’t it? That is some stat,
and yet thousands of people daily make the decision to dive into
starting their own home based business. Is it your path to financial
security? What is the real difference between the haves and the
don’t haves? The difference between making $0 and $10k
monthly? This gap is no more apparent than in Network
Marketing/MLM. What is the secret to succeeding in your own

People that were part of Amway. Most of the time we heard from

gave about 2 minutes and interviewed Bill Bright. He was sitting
in front of his palatial home and was asked how he succeeded

simple and not very surprising at all. He showed ‘the plan’ or
business to 1200 people, and this was before the internet made it
possible to contact thousands a month. He had face to face contact
with 1200 people!

Of course not everyone joined him. 300 people signed up. 215 did
not build a business. 85 were serious, 30 actually built a business. 11
made him a millionaire! That was his secret, work. Let me say that
again- WORK! He did the work. What would you do in the face of
900 no’s? Would you quit after 10, 20, 100, 500? Most people do.
The good thing now is that there are systems in place to help people
succeed and it is less daunting than speaking to someone face to face
and getting rejected. Who wants that?! However, you still must do
the work and get your business out there. Thomas Edison tried over
10,000 times to invent the light bulb. The point is, he didn’t fail, he
just found 10,000 ways that did not work.

People have choices, you have a choice. People don’t really fail in this
business - people quit! They quit on their dreams, they quit on
themselves. They get comfortable where they are in life. They start
to dream smaller, and expect less. Very successful people realize
that they won’t hit a home run every time up. Babe Ruth, that
famous Yankee slugger, got a hit only 3 out of 10 times at bat. What
you have to realize is that it will take work and sacrifice to succeed
in anything you do! Where are your priorities? Where do you spend
your time?

If someone is saying that they want success, but are not doing what it
takes to succeed, do they really want success? It’s ok if they don’t.
Not everyone is cut out for this life, although everyone can achieve it,
if they want it.

Network Marketing is the best business to be in because there are
successes like Bill Bright to study. Where else can you start a business
that has the potential to set you free for less than $500. There have
been people before you that have done it! Don’t try to re-invent the
wheel. Learn from the success of others. In this business the only
way you can succeed is by helping others succeed. Isn’t that they
way it should be, we can all be successful together. You just need
to make a decision. Make a decision to succeed, a decision for your
future. That is the reason you are here, isn’t it?

Forums are a great way to meet other internet marketers, exchange ideas and promote your business through your signature. I would not suggest blatantly promoting yourself or your business. a forum is a place to exchange ideas. 10 Things You MUST Do to Succeed In Your Home Based Business

Many people dream about working at home in their own home based business. Let's face it, it is a dream come true. To be your own boss, work your own hours and be the master of your own destiny. As many of us realized early on in our home business careers, there are some ground rules you must follow in order to be successful with your home based business.

1. Be consistent: If you are running an email campaign and you are dedicated to submit to safelists everyday, then do it everyday- not once a week. You must be consistent if you want to be taken seriously.

Autoresponders: Do you really need them?

An Autoresponder will send emails automatically to your prospects/customers so you do not have to do it manually.

When one enters the online arena you are bombarded with so many offers from biz opps to squeeze pages to autoresponders, to a million other things you may or may not need. They all sound great on the page that's selling them, of course. But, do we really need all those things?

That all depends on how you want to make money online. For the sake of being as brief as possible I am going to speak about autoresponders. There is a reason for my subject today and I will get to it later. An online business opportunity comes with 2 requirements. 1. You have to be able to get online. 2. You have to communicate online with your prospects/customers - mainly through email. Email is a great tool, your prospect/customer can be reached at any hour of the day. They can be reading your email at 3 am while you are asleep.

Best of all - email is free, well for the time being. I am sure once the Governments find a way to charge for each email you send, they will do it. For now it's free. If you want to make money online and delve into the world of an online business you must be able to meet those 2 requirements.

This takes us back to the original question. Do you really need an autoresponder to make money online? You may ask, as I did, "why can't I use my Yahoo email?" The fact is you can, but not if you want to send to more than 25 people an hour. The reason for this is that email providers are terrified of spam accusations and the federal regulations that govern them. They have protections built in for that - and that is why they limit what you send.

Imagine you go through the trouble of using Yahoo, or msn or hotmail to do your mailing. The first thing you notice is that it is not automated, you must do everything by hand. But, you work through it and build a list of over 500 contacts - you are really happy. You are good about it too, and remove everyone that asks. One day you log in, or try to, and it keeps telling you - the username or password is incorrect. You soon find out that your account has been deactivated or closed. No warning, no second chance and no appeal. Good-bye email and most improtant - good-bye contact list.

"What - they can't do that!" - They can and they did - to me! So, as you can see I speak from experience. Using an autoresponder will save you time and money. If you want to make money online and turn it into a good living you need one. No if's and's or but's. It is one of your tools. It will take a little bit of time to set up, but it will be well worth it to have your email follow up system fully automated- saving you several hours a week.

There are a lot of autoresponders out there the cost is pretty cheap compared to the time savings, usually around $20 a month. I have several that I use, GetResponse , Response Magic and ISO. There are others out there, I think that they are all pretty comparable anddo the same things for you. Go ahead and check some out. Make sure that you get one that is full service, where you can easily create campaigns and add contacts and email messages.

So get going, put your sales on autopilot and enjoy your life!

This is the ongoing theme in my life as it rounds 40. I did not always believe that to be so. It is no coincidence that a home based business especially one that is involved with network marketing and making money online needs to be well aware of this principle. Value is king online. You must provide value to everyone you come in contact with. Whether it is through your products or even with your words. everyone is looking for the same thing in life and that is success. Personal success is what I am talking about.

People need to feel good about themselves and that is a driving force in their lives. It is no wonder that diet products are a multi billion dollar a year industry as is self help books and also work out programs. they all have one thing in common, to get people feeling better about themselves. You have a great deal to do with how someone is feeling today. A very successful person once told me that the secret to his success is that he always treated everyone as if they were the most improtant person. He gave them his undivided attention in conversation. He certainly knew how to give.

Do you give everyone your undivided attention? Do you notice everyone in your office building or are you too busy trying to get to your office that you have blinders on. You have opportunities evryday to make a huge difference in people's lives and all it will take is a metter of seconds. Just saying hello is a start - how suprised are you when a complete stranger says hello? Is this how it should be? Be A Pumper Not A Jumper!

Sound like a strange title for a post here? It isn't. This just came to me after viewing several posts in one of the forums I contribute to. It's always the same - the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

Sometimes that is the case - but the reason it is greener is because it gets watered! Are you watering your business daily? Are you giving it the attention it needs and deserves? They say plants thrive when you talk to them. I don't know what causes that, but if you love your plants - talk away!

Do you expect a tree to grow from an acorn within a week? Of course not. You may see a little stub within a week and then that acorn, with proper food and water, will grow into a mighty oak, but that takes a few years. Your home based business is the same - it needs to time to mature and grow. If you really want to make money online - you need to come to the reality that there is no quick fix - no matter what line of BS someone is shoveling your way.

It is no secret that if you are involved in a network marketing business you will have a 5-10% chance of success. Yet, you are still here looking for soemthing that you do not have - money, time, freedom. For everyone it is different. i can tell you, as sure as I know the sun will rise tomorrow, that this industry IS the best on the planet. Not because people get rich, but because in order to get rich - you must take people with you. The more successful you help other people to become the more successful you will become.

If you understand that concept, you understand the network marketing industry. You will succeed and be able to make money online with your very own home based business. Maintaining Focus Is Essential For Success

This is the most important factor in your success or (heaven forbid!) your failure. I have spoken to numerous people from all walks of life. The one thing sticks out besides attitude, which is a given, is that FOCUS is mandatory for success! You must be focused on the goal!

You see it on the sports field all the time. Baseball, basketball, hockey - whatever. If you are not focused - you will not win!

In internet marketing this is especially hard since we are mainly working for home in front of our computer. This is good and bad. We are constantly bombarded with the lastest and the greatest. The automatic millionaire program that allows us to plug in and turn on and cash those checks while slappin' back a cold one in the ol' lazy boy! How many times have you gotten info on one of those.

If you take your eye off the ball to chase the latest and greatest, you will find after much frustration that you are in the same spot you started from but a little older and much broker.

I spoke to a woman on my team the other day and she was doing this and doing that, signed up for this program and that reseller program with every imaginable affiliate. She wants so much to succeed and make extra money, but she is not focused. She is spending her time chasing every so called opportunity that she is frustrated and can't seem to do anything. I told her she needs to pick one thing and focus on it.

Wether she will or she won't - that is up to her. I can take her so far and she needs to make the decision to go the rest of the way.

No matter what you are involved in - you can succeed and get the life you want. 95% of the opportunities are good viable businesses that you can succeed with. Yes, there are scams on the internet, but that is the exception rather than the rule. Do yourdue diligence and focus on the goal and go get 'em.

Send Out Ships

I read a great book it's called "Zero to Zillionaire" by Chellie Campbell. She goes through 8 steps to more abundance in your life. Not so much how to get the most money, but how to be more balanced - to be rich in every aspect of your life. This is what we all want, or it should be.

The truth of the matter is that money does not buy happiness, and any rich person can tell you that. It is easy for them to say because they have all the money they need. As people that are trying to make money online or at some type of home based business like network marketing or MLM, it has some great things to take from it. One thing Chellie talks about is sending out ships, which you must do if you want YOUR SHIP TO COME IN. If you have no ships out there, don't be suprised if nothing comes back.

Sending out ships has a lot to do with networking, whether it be in person or on the internet in forums or through email. You must get your name and business out there in order for you to be successful and have your ship come in. It can be a long process or a short one. It is all relative.

One thing is for sure, you must take action. Don't just sign up for a program or start a business and hang your shingle on the door and turn on your computer and sit back and relax. The real work is just starting. Network marketing, MLM, Internet marketing, Home based business, or whatever you are doing needs to be a focused activity in order for your ship to come in.

What you really need to know...

The first thing you need to do is make a list of everything
you want in a home based business. When I was looking for a new
opportunity I had a list of things I wanted from the
company. Here is my list:

1. Lead capture page- this is where prospects put in
their name and email address to get more info.

2. Follow-up system - I didn't have a lot of time
to do follow-up so I wanted a company that
would follow with my prospects.

3. A pay plan that would promote depth- after
looking at various comp plans, I wanted one
that would enable me to earn money based on my
upline's work- known as spillover, usually found
in binary plans.

4. A pay plan that would have no limit on the levels
that they payout. Some plans only pay 5-9 levels
deep. I wanted to find a company that would pay on
unlimited levels.

Those were the things that I wanted out of the company and
pay plan. You may want different things, but I wanted a
company that would do it's best to help me be successful.

Here is an example of what I am talking about in 1 & 2,
this company fulfilled all my requirements:

Other things I was looking for:

1. A worldwide opportunity that would not be limited
to only specific countries. The internet is a big
place and I wanted no limitations.

2. A product I could believe in and would use-
this is important, because afterall you will be
promoting this and if you do not believe in it
you will not be successful.

Remember what the list was in "what are your prospects
really thinking about?" Go through that list and see if you
like the answers. Do your own checklist and make sure
you feel it is a good fit. But, you should always remember
the old saying- "if it is meant to be, it is up to me!" YOU
are the most important person in your business.

You can do it! I believe in you!

more than 1 business in the beginning. Wait until that
business is making you a good income and then you can
branch out.

So many choices – I think I am going crazy!

If you have been surfing the web for more than an hour
you know there are many business opportunities- too
numerous to count, and more coming everyday. You
may be thinking that I should have discussed this first,
but there is a method here. Everything thus far has been
about what it takes to succeed and what is expected of
you and what you should expect. After learning all that,
you are now ready to delve into choosing a business for
yourself.

I am not going to be the one to sit here and tell you which
one's are good and which are not. YOU need to do the
due diligence and decide for yourself. This IS YOUR
business afterall. I can help you by giving you some

The key to this whole process is not to get bogged down
with looking at so many that you get info overload! It needs
to be a good fit since you will need to commit to

a traditional business takes 3 years to turn a profit. The
least you can do is stay in for 1 year.

There is one thing you need to remember- there is no
such thing as a PERFECT business, only a good fit
for you. That is what you want- if you spend your time
looking for the 'perfect opportunity' you will never
start a business because the grass will always seem
greener somewhere else.

Put on your investigative caps and go looking for that
business that will make you want to get up in the
morning!!

We have heard always that the 3 most important things
in Real Estate is location, location and location. That is
very true and no one can dispute it. Just like in real estate,
the 3 most important things in Network Marketing:
Promote, promote, promote! No one can dispute that
either!

So you've found the perfect opportunity (more about this
next time), with the best comp plan and you vow to be the
best sponsor. Now you just wait for the phone to ring,
right? Of course not, you know and I know that people
have to know about YOU! After all this is a business. I
heard a commercial on the radio the other day and it was
about realtors. Them being small business owners in your
community. It is funny that they have to advertise a realtor
as a business owner, but that is what they are. If they don't
sell a house, they don't get paid.

It is easy to forget when most of us are used to punching a
clock and collecting a paycheck, what it means to be in
business for yourself. No matter what business you are
in you MUST PROMOTE yourself and your business.

This is where most Network Marketers fail. They do not
know how to promote and they do not have any money to
promote with. A typical scenario would go like this: 'Jim'
signs up and scrapes together the money for the kit and
materials he needs to get started. The first problem he runs
into is he doesn't have any money left to use to promote
his business.

The KEY TO SUCCESS in this business is promoting the
opportunity you are involved with. It is a very simple
process. You get yourself in front of as many people as
you can. The internet makes this very easy since the
internet has over 1 billion people online. Here is what
nobody talks about: IT WILL COST YOU MONEY
TO ADVERTISE.

Your first task even before you choose an opportunity, is
to figure out how much you are able to spend each month
on promoting your business. That figure is very important
and you need to stick to it. When you start your business
let your sponsor know what your financial status is. It will
help both of you.

I like to do this with my team, this is so I know where
everyone stands. Everybody will work at their own pace.
Some will have $300 to spend and some will have $50.
If you don't have a lot of money then you will need to
spend time, ie. Traffic exchanges, forum marketing, and
safelists. Those are only a few. Bottom line is your time
is just as valuable(maybe more) than money!

Time is money, make your time count. My business uses several
things from a very successful ad-coop, that allows our team to
pool resources and reach more people, therefore we all share
in the success without risking a lot of money. I am also
developing a program with an ebook that can be sold to generate
money on the front end. It's all about teamwork!

Wish you could switch sponsors?

Maybe you were surfing the web and decided to join a
home business because of a website or some emails you
received about how your downline would be built for
you while you learned about the business.

I know for a fact that you have either seen the sites or
gotten emails about this very thing. They are
everywhere, so if you have been online for more than 10
minutes, you have seen these. Let's clear the air for a
moment… NO-ONE will build a home based business FOR YOU,
you will need to build it and they will help. If your
financial future is important to you, you will do the work.

Now that that's out of the way…If you have a sponsor
that is less active than you are and does not seem to be
any help and is non-responsive. Be thankful!
That's right. This will force you to do it on your own
And far more is learned when you do things on your own.
Make no mistake, this is not how it is supposed to work.

Sponsors are meant to take care of the new person, make
sure they get all their info and contacts. If your sponsor
doesn't do that then make a promise to yourself that you
will be different and move forward. My point is this- THIS
IS YOUR home based business. Take action and always move
forward- find out from the heavy hitters what is working,
try it and go from there. You will be the better for it!

I have had it both ways, in my first Network Marketing
company my sponsor was always there for me. He would be
giving me advice, going on presentations with me and
anything else he could do to make it easier for me. I
failed miserably. After that I took the plunge again and
this time my sponsor was so far away that he couldn't
really help me. So I was forced to learn on my own.
It was tough at first since I didn't know what to do, but
I learned so much more and it working out wonderfully.

I have heard it said, "Don't wish it was easier, wish you
were better." That is where education comes in, never stop
learning. I continuously listen to Zig Ziglar, Jim Rohn,
Dennis Waitley and others. I cannot tell you how
much this helps. You can find them all in one place:

It makes me realize that there will be
struggles, for everyone, but if you keep moving forward
then you will get to the light at the end of the tunnel.

Mark 4:1-9

1Again Jesus began to teach by the lake. The crowd that gathered around him was so large that he got into a boat and sat in it out on the lake, while all the people were along the shore at the water's edge. 2He taught them many things by parables, and in his teaching said: 3"Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain. 8Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, multiplying thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times."

9Then Jesus said, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear."

This is a very powerful parable and you can see how it can tie into our business. In this business we have 'seeds', these can be our invitations to see the opportunity we have to offer.

Have you ever spoken to anyone and they seemed really interested in what you had. They promised to take a closer look at it, but never 'showed up'. You always wanted to know why- since this business would be 'perfect' for them. Now you know: it was the birds! Nasty birds! One of their 'friends' could have talked them out of it, or said something. You may be tempted to go after the 'birds' and chase them away. DON'T DO IT! What happens if you chase birds?- You leave the field.

Remember this: The birds are gonna get some!

Some of the 'seeds' fall on rocky soil, and they begin to grow. You finally get someone started. You think 'this is going to be great!' Then on the first hot day, the first tough spot, they disappear. The person's foundation was not strong enough. The plant had no root because the soil was shallow.

Remember this: The heat is gonna get some!

Some of the 'seed' fall among thorns. The plant grows, but the thorns grow up and choke the plant. The bible refers to these as little cares that take away our focus. You have a conference call scheduled and your new person 'John' is scheduled to be there. He is not there. You ask him what happened. He had to take out the trash and prune the rose bushes. You could almost hear the thorns strangling him. PEOPLE LET SMALL THINGS CHEAT THEM OUT OF BIG OPPORTUNITIES!

Remember this: The thorns are gonna get some!

This is the KEY. The sower kept on sowing and finally the seed found good soil and grew and came up and produced a crop. If you keep sowing, your "seeds", opportunity will fall on good soil. "He who has ears, let them hear" You are always looking for the people that are looking.

Remember this: Keep sowing and a crop will grow!

If you remember these 4 points you will succeed in Network Marketing. This is how this business works, it was this way in the beginning and shall be in the future. Do not fight the system- work within the system and you will be successful.

You've Sponsored Someone! Now What?

You have just entered the best time and the worst time in a
sponsors life. Joy is flowing through you like a rocket. You
are walking on air! You are finally vindicated, this really
works!!

After the initial joyous feeling, you get a little nervous,
after all you are pretty new at this yourself. You move ahead
and get your newbie all the info he/she needs to succeed.

The first thing you need to do is contact them. I prefer to
place a friendly phone call if they are not too far away.
Sending an e-mail works but you cannot get a feel for the
person's WHY through an e-mail. Yes, I said WHY. We spoke of
this the other day.

If a WHY is important for you it is important for everyone,
there are NO exceptions.

This is the overriding rule in Network Marketing- you must
find your team's WHY.

Your people may not be as gung ho as you are. After all, you
know it works. They need to be brought into the fold. Remember
what we said: "They need to know they can do it and that you
will help them". That starts now!

Give them all the info they need and all the contact #'s and
email addresses. Remember this is all new to them. They
will let you know what their speed will be. Believe me!

It's all about PEOPLE!

As it has been said a thousand times, there is no I in team.
This is more evident in network marketing than any other
industry. You are the leader of your team and as the leader
you are responsible for your team members and if you don't
have the answers or you are new then go upline until you find
someone you can work with.

It is no longer about you, it is about them. You are in the
people business. Start studying people, talk to people, find
out about their lives, their desires, what makes them tick.
You need to get educated about people. Education is the key,
you've heard it before:

"Leaders are readers" and "Earners are Learners".

You're education should never stop. That is the beauty of it,
whether you have a team of 1 or 1000, you should always be
learning.

A few good books on personality styles that will help you:

"Personality Plus" and "Personality Tree" both by
Florence Littauer.

You will deal with all types of people in this business and
understanding personalities will give you a leg up on those that
don't. This business allows you to learn as you earn. If you
were a Doctor, you would spend 8 years and over 200k dollars in
school before you would make a dime. With this business you
will spend 4-5 years and make 10 times what a doctor makes.

It can happen faster, but you need to work smarter. The only way
to work smarter is to learn how to do it. That takes time. For
some it comes naturally, for others, it does not.

You may be thinking "if I'm learning, how can I be earning
at the same time? I mean, in order to succeed I have to do it
right". That is the beauty of Network Marketing- you are in
business for yourself, but NOT BY YOURSELF!

You are instantly a member of a TEAM, and it is your upline's
job to help you succeed! All new people MUST be plugged into a
system: conference calls, fast start training, opportunity
calls, et al.

For example: I give all new people on my team a step by step
guide to SUCCESS. All the tools they need and what they should
do, taking them by the hand and showing them the way. That is
vital to a new person's success. I have given them what they
need to begin, that shows everyone that they are not alone and
there is a team behind them interested in their success. Every
new person needs that assurance!

What is your WHY?

This is probably the most important question you will need to
answer. If you don't know it – find it. There is a reason
you got into this business or want to get into this business, or
any business for that matter! It must be everywhere, and most
importantly it must be burned into your brain. You will need to
refer back to it often.

The simple reason for this: THINGS DON'T ALWAYS GO AS
PLANNED! You know it. Everyday you are thrown a curve and must
think on your feet. There are days when everything seems to be
going wrong. Those are the days that you need your WHY the
most. It gets you back on track and pulls you off the ledge.
It is your best friend in business!

Everybody has one. What is it you want out of your business.
You better know it, backwards and forwards, in your sleep. I
can guess what you are thinking: it's the MONEY! Well, not
really. Everybody says money, but money ends in 'Y'. Find
your WHY, focus on it and you will be successful!

Need help defining it?: Answer the following :

1- What would you do with an extra 20 hrs a week?
2- How would you spend that time?
3- If I didn't have to go to work today I would…!
4- If I was making an extra $500, $1000, $2000 a month I would
be able to...!

Now that you have defined your why and it is tattooed to your
forehead (just kidding), you need to make a commitment! A
commitment to your future, because after all this is what we are
talking about. How you and your family are going to live life
for the next 40-50 years. Are you going to spend it how you
want to or how you have to?

What are your prospects thinking about?

This is probably one of the most important things to the success
of your business. Are you listening to your prospects or are you
talking at them. Telling them how great the company is and the
comp plan and the products. News Flash- THEY DON"T CARE!

There was a study done a few years back and it rated what
prospects considered in evaluating a network marketing business.
Tom Schreiter did this poll and was amazed at the results.

They were, not in any particular order:

* Company literature
* Marketing and compensation plan
* Training provided
* Who gave the presentation
* Product
* Company management
* Up-line support
* Company image
* Sales kit provided
* Being first in your area

If you had to guess- what would be the most important to the
least from 1-10? This is a good test for yourself to see if you
are on the same page as your prospects. Are you ready?:

1. Who gave the presentation- that's right, people join people
not companies or websites. That's YOU!

2. Upline support- Will there be any help? I won't be all
alone will I?

3. Training- Will you help me succeed? Do you have a system I
can plug into?

4. Marketing and compensation plan- Can I make money with this?
Or Can you help me make money?

5. Product- What's the product? Do I want it and can I use
it? That's it- basic info.

6. Being first in the area – They don't want to be all
alone, but they want to know there is not any saturation.

7. Company literature- way down on the list.

8. Image- Is there a building or are they working out of a PO
Box?

9. Is the Sales Kit provided – They want to know that you have
the things that will help them build their business.

10. Management- The least important. Have you been to a
presentation where this is the first thing they talk about?

We've narrowed it down to a pretty simple objective:

1. Make sure the prospect likes you.
2. You better make sure they believe they can succeed.

If not, then it doesn't matter what the comp plan is or what
the rest of the list is. You are dead in the water.

This is a people business, people will join you if they believe
you can help them.

Network Marketing Anyone?

If you look around at traditional businesses the costs are staggering. Start up capital for a traditional business is never any less than $100k. That is no guarantee when it comes to the success of the business. Most businesses lose money for the first 2 years. Let that sink in for a moment. If someone came to you and said that they have a wonderful plan for you- it will cost you 100k and you won’t make a profit for at least 2 years, but there is no guarantee you will survive the first 2 years. Sound like a great deal? “Not when you put it that way, Joseph”. It may sound ridiculous, but people are saying yes every day, because they have a DREAM! The dream of being their own boss, becoming financially free and spending the rest of their life as they want to, not as they have to. I admire these people because they are at least trying to live their Dream. They are putting everything they have- blood, sweat and tears into their business, and working 12-14 hours a day to make a better life for themselves and their family.

Owning your own business is tough, it’s not easy. I spoke to a business owner the other day and he was frustrated with how it was going. He bought a donut shop 6 months ago and he and his wife have been working 16 hours a day-7 days a week. They have no time to enjoy their life. When you go into business for yourself, that is your job. You have to be there all the time, mentally and physically.

Network Marketing has built its popularity on the phrases “10-15 hours a week” and “earn a full time income working part time”. This industry is phenomenal; it is the most lucrative industry in the world that anyone, regardless of class or status can, succeed. It is amazing when you think about it; a business that you can start usually for less than $500.00 has the potential to make you a millionaire. As some of you have found out, it is an industry that will test you to the very core of your being. Over 90% will fail, which means quit. They won’t make it past 6 months. You have to realize that network marketing is a business like any other and it will take time to build. DO NOT believe the hype out there. There is no magic pill or super fantastic quick way to a million. Don’t believe the “I will do all the work for you, just sit down in your lazy-boy and collect the checks” hype. If you want to get rich without doing any work and expect that it will be handed to you- you are in the wrong business. That being said, if you stick it out and don’t quit, you will be rewarded. Make a decision to take action. That is the first step to success in any business.
