Wish you could switch sponsors?

Maybe you were surfing the web and decided to join a
home business because of a website or some emails you
received about how your downline would be built for
you while you learned about the business.

I know for a fact that you have either seen the sites or
gotten emails about this very thing. They are
everywhere, so if you have been online for more than 10
minutes, you have seen these. Let's clear the air for a
moment… NO-ONE will build a home based business FOR YOU,
you will need to build it and they will help. If your
financial future is important to you, you will do the work.

Now that that's out of the way…If you have a sponsor
that is less active than you are and does not seem to be
any help and is non-responsive. Be thankful!
That's right. This will force you to do it on your own
And far more is learned when you do things on your own.
Make no mistake, this is not how it is supposed to work.

Sponsors are meant to take care of the new person, make
sure they get all their info and contacts. If your sponsor
doesn't do that then make a promise to yourself that you
will be different and move forward. My point is this- THIS
IS YOUR home based business. Take action and always move
forward- find out from the heavy hitters what is working,
try it and go from there. You will be the better for it!

I have had it both ways, in my first Network Marketing
company my sponsor was always there for me. He would be
giving me advice, going on presentations with me and
anything else he could do to make it easier for me. I
failed miserably. After that I took the plunge again and
this time my sponsor was so far away that he couldn't
really help me. So I was forced to learn on my own.
It was tough at first since I didn't know what to do, but
I learned so much more and it working out wonderfully.

I have heard it said, "Don't wish it was easier, wish you
were better." That is where education comes in, never stop
learning. I continuously listen to Zig Ziglar, Jim Rohn,
Dennis Waitley and others. I cannot tell you how
much this helps. You can find them all in one place:
EDUCATION
It makes me realize that there will be
struggles, for everyone, but if you keep moving forward
then you will get to the light at the end of the tunnel.


My favorite quote from Winston Churchill: "Never Give
Up! Never Give Up! NEVER GIVE UP!"

Jesus was right… Jim Rohn speaks of the Sower:

Part of my regimen in this business is to listen to Jim Rohn, who
Is a respected speaker and Multi-Million Dollar earner in Network Marketing. He ties in Jesus's parable very nicely.

PARABLE OF THE SOWER:
Mark 4:1-9

1Again Jesus began to teach by the lake. The crowd that gathered around him was so large that he got into a boat and sat in it out on the lake, while all the people were along the shore at the water's edge. 2He taught them many things by parables, and in his teaching said: 3"Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain. 8Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, multiplying thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times."

9Then Jesus said, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear."

This is a very powerful parable and you can see how it can tie into our business. In this business we have 'seeds', these can be our invitations to see the opportunity we have to offer.

Have you ever spoken to anyone and they seemed really interested in what you had. They promised to take a closer look at it, but never 'showed up'. You always wanted to know why- since this business would be 'perfect' for them. Now you know: it was the birds! Nasty birds! One of their 'friends' could have talked them out of it, or said something. You may be tempted to go after the 'birds' and chase them away. DON'T DO IT! What happens if you chase birds?- You leave the field.

Remember this: The birds are gonna get some!

Some of the 'seeds' fall on rocky soil, and they begin to grow. You finally get someone started. You think 'this is going to be great!' Then on the first hot day, the first tough spot, they disappear. The person's foundation was not strong enough. The plant had no root because the soil was shallow.

Remember this: The heat is gonna get some!

Some of the 'seed' fall among thorns. The plant grows, but the thorns grow up and choke the plant. The bible refers to these as little cares that take away our focus. You have a conference call scheduled and your new person 'John' is scheduled to be there. He is not there. You ask him what happened. He had to take out the trash and prune the rose bushes. You could almost hear the thorns strangling him. PEOPLE LET SMALL THINGS CHEAT THEM OUT OF BIG OPPORTUNITIES!

Remember this: The thorns are gonna get some!

This is the KEY. The sower kept on sowing and finally the seed found good soil and grew and came up and produced a crop. If you keep sowing, your "seeds", opportunity will fall on good soil. "He who has ears, let them hear" You are always looking for the people that are looking.

Remember this: Keep sowing and a crop will grow!

If you remember these 4 points you will succeed in Network Marketing. This is how this business works, it was this way in the beginning and shall be in the future. Do not fight the system- work within the system and you will be successful.

You've Sponsored Someone! Now What?

You have just entered the best time and the worst time in a
sponsors life. Joy is flowing through you like a rocket. You
are walking on air! You are finally vindicated, this really
works!!

After the initial joyous feeling, you get a little nervous,
after all you are pretty new at this yourself. You move ahead
and get your newbie all the info he/she needs to succeed.

The first thing you need to do is contact them. I prefer to
place a friendly phone call if they are not too far away.
Sending an e-mail works but you cannot get a feel for the
person's WHY through an e-mail. Yes, I said WHY. We spoke of
this the other day.

If a WHY is important for you it is important for everyone,
there are NO exceptions.

This is the overriding rule in Network Marketing- you must
find your team's WHY.

Your people may not be as gung ho as you are. After all, you
know it works. They need to be brought into the fold. Remember
what we said: "They need to know they can do it and that you
will help them". That starts now!

Give them all the info they need and all the contact #'s and
email addresses. Remember this is all new to them. They
will let you know what their speed will be. Believe me!

It's all about PEOPLE!

As it has been said a thousand times, there is no I in team.
This is more evident in network marketing than any other
industry. You are the leader of your team and as the leader
you are responsible for your team members and if you don't
have the answers or you are new then go upline until you find
someone you can work with.

It is no longer about you, it is about them. You are in the
people business. Start studying people, talk to people, find
out about their lives, their desires, what makes them tick.
You need to get educated about people. Education is the key,
you've heard it before:

"Leaders are readers" and "Earners are Learners".

You're education should never stop. That is the beauty of it,
whether you have a team of 1 or 1000, you should always be
learning.

A few good books on personality styles that will help you:

"Personality Plus" and "Personality Tree" both by
Florence Littauer.

You will deal with all types of people in this business and
understanding personalities will give you a leg up on those that
don't. This business allows you to learn as you earn. If you
were a Doctor, you would spend 8 years and over 200k dollars in
school before you would make a dime. With this business you
will spend 4-5 years and make 10 times what a doctor makes.

It can happen faster, but you need to work smarter. The only way
to work smarter is to learn how to do it. That takes time. For
some it comes naturally, for others, it does not.

You may be thinking "if I'm learning, how can I be earning
at the same time? I mean, in order to succeed I have to do it
right". That is the beauty of Network Marketing- you are in
business for yourself, but NOT BY YOURSELF!

You are instantly a member of a TEAM, and it is your upline's
job to help you succeed! All new people MUST be plugged into a
system: conference calls, fast start training, opportunity
calls, et al.

For example: I give all new people on my team a step by step
guide to SUCCESS. All the tools they need and what they should
do, taking them by the hand and showing them the way. That is
vital to a new person's success. I have given them what they
need to begin, that shows everyone that they are not alone and
there is a team behind them interested in their success. Every
new person needs that assurance!

What is your WHY?

This is probably the most important question you will need to
answer. If you don't know it – find it. There is a reason
you got into this business or want to get into this business, or
any business for that matter! It must be everywhere, and most
importantly it must be burned into your brain. You will need to
refer back to it often.

The simple reason for this: THINGS DON'T ALWAYS GO AS
PLANNED! You know it. Everyday you are thrown a curve and must
think on your feet. There are days when everything seems to be
going wrong. Those are the days that you need your WHY the
most. It gets you back on track and pulls you off the ledge.
It is your best friend in business!

Everybody has one. What is it you want out of your business.
You better know it, backwards and forwards, in your sleep. I
can guess what you are thinking: it's the MONEY! Well, not
really. Everybody says money, but money ends in 'Y'. Find
your WHY, focus on it and you will be successful!

Need help defining it?: Answer the following :

1- What would you do with an extra 20 hrs a week?
2- How would you spend that time?
3- If I didn't have to go to work today I would…!
4- If I was making an extra $500, $1000, $2000 a month I would
be able to...!

Now that you have defined your why and it is tattooed to your
forehead (just kidding), you need to make a commitment! A
commitment to your future, because after all this is what we are
talking about. How you and your family are going to live life
for the next 40-50 years. Are you going to spend it how you
want to or how you have to?

What are your prospects thinking about?

This is probably one of the most important things to the success
of your business. Are you listening to your prospects or are you
talking at them. Telling them how great the company is and the
comp plan and the products. News Flash- THEY DON"T CARE!

There was a study done a few years back and it rated what
prospects considered in evaluating a network marketing business.
Tom Schreiter did this poll and was amazed at the results.

They were, not in any particular order:

* Company literature
* Marketing and compensation plan
* Training provided
* Who gave the presentation
* Product
* Company management
* Up-line support
* Company image
* Sales kit provided
* Being first in your area

If you had to guess- what would be the most important to the
least from 1-10? This is a good test for yourself to see if you
are on the same page as your prospects. Are you ready?:

1. Who gave the presentation- that's right, people join people
not companies or websites. That's YOU!

2. Upline support- Will there be any help? I won't be all
alone will I?

3. Training- Will you help me succeed? Do you have a system I
can plug into?

4. Marketing and compensation plan- Can I make money with this?
Or Can you help me make money?

5. Product- What's the product? Do I want it and can I use
it? That's it- basic info.

6. Being first in the area – They don't want to be all
alone, but they want to know there is not any saturation.

7. Company literature- way down on the list.

8. Image- Is there a building or are they working out of a PO
Box?

9. Is the Sales Kit provided – They want to know that you have
the things that will help them build their business.

10. Management- The least important. Have you been to a
presentation where this is the first thing they talk about?

We've narrowed it down to a pretty simple objective:

1. Make sure the prospect likes you.
2. You better make sure they believe they can succeed.

If not, then it doesn't matter what the comp plan is or what
the rest of the list is. You are dead in the water.

This is a people business, people will join you if they believe
you can help them.

Network Marketing Anyone?


If you look around at traditional businesses the costs are staggering. Start up capital for a traditional business is never any less than $100k. That is no guarantee when it comes to the success of the business. Most businesses lose money for the first 2 years. Let that sink in for a moment. If someone came to you and said that they have a wonderful plan for you- it will cost you 100k and you won’t make a profit for at least 2 years, but there is no guarantee you will survive the first 2 years. Sound like a great deal? “Not when you put it that way, Joseph”. It may sound ridiculous, but people are saying yes every day, because they have a DREAM! The dream of being their own boss, becoming financially free and spending the rest of their life as they want to, not as they have to. I admire these people because they are at least trying to live their Dream. They are putting everything they have- blood, sweat and tears into their business, and working 12-14 hours a day to make a better life for themselves and their family.

Owning your own business is tough, it’s not easy. I spoke to a business owner the other day and he was frustrated with how it was going. He bought a donut shop 6 months ago and he and his wife have been working 16 hours a day-7 days a week. They have no time to enjoy their life. When you go into business for yourself, that is your job. You have to be there all the time, mentally and physically.

Network Marketing has built its popularity on the phrases “10-15 hours a week” and “earn a full time income working part time”. This industry is phenomenal; it is the most lucrative industry in the world that anyone, regardless of class or status can, succeed. It is amazing when you think about it; a business that you can start usually for less than $500.00 has the potential to make you a millionaire. As some of you have found out, it is an industry that will test you to the very core of your being. Over 90% will fail, which means quit. They won’t make it past 6 months. You have to realize that network marketing is a business like any other and it will take time to build. DO NOT believe the hype out there. There is no magic pill or super fantastic quick way to a million. Don’t believe the “I will do all the work for you, just sit down in your lazy-boy and collect the checks” hype. If you want to get rich without doing any work and expect that it will be handed to you- you are in the wrong business. That being said, if you stick it out and don’t quit, you will be rewarded. Make a decision to take action. That is the first step to success in any business.
